My thoughts:

Someone else mentioned that it took Palmer 1/2 a season to click with BA's offense...and they were right. Go back to that first year...the offense was so out of whack at the beginning, but finally found it's legs after the bye. Gabbert, IMO, needs the rest of this season to see what he can do, before he's anointed for starting or backing up next season. I'm truly rooting for him, though, as I'd rather see the Cards draft pieces around a not-too-old veteran QB...Other skill positions usually take less time to make an impact, than QB's.

Gabbert has all the skills needed...he can make any pass on the route tree and he really throws a nice deep ball, when he tries. What he lacks is stability and confidence, IMO...and I think those go hand in hand.

Ditto. Perfectly said, masterphomeg.

The concern is that Gabbert has had a ton of starts in the NFL and still looks over whelmed at times. Since those starts were with the (at the time) pitiful Jags and 49ers we owe it to him and ourselves to see if he can continue to improve with some more meaningful playing time.

Has he played better than Stanton? Yes. I still don't get the luv of him going forward. He's an adequate QB IMO & that's it.

1) throws a great ball
2) mobile
3) quick decision making
4) very good arm
5) 1 read QB
6) locks onto receivers
7) still turns the ball over often
8) no touch, throws to many laser passes
9) too many passes under & around 10 yards. Rarely throws deep
10) still has low completion %, not as accurate as top passers

I'd take him as my #2 but not my constant starter! If anyone thinks the Cards or any other team can compete or win a SB title with anyone like or similar to Gabbert in today's game you need to wake up. Gabbert is the ultimate tease IMO. He will make you want more then crush your soul most of the time in the end! Is he better than Josh McCown?

I just want to see Gabbert start the rest of this season not Stanton. After 5 more starts we can do a really good evaluations on him. I will be pissed if BA goes back to Stanton.

Absolutely agree. I don’t see him going back to Stanton unless Gabbert gets injured. For me, Stanton is unwatchable. If we had to go back to him, I’ll be watching something on Netflix.

Its interesting how negative people here are about Gabbert and have the mindset that there is this great QBOF coming that will solve all our problems. Its not so easy. Very few highly drafted QBs do well in their first year PARTICULARLY when they do not have a great supporting cast and the Cardinals will not be in the best position to draft all that high.
Gabbert showed enough to allow us to see how he can do the rest of the year. But lets not expect perfection because no one could meet that bar. His last two completions to receivers at the sidelines were outstanding.

He's good for basically 3 quarters of football before the defense catches up with him.

If we don't go all in for a qb in rounds one or two I may have a tantrum. Or two. Or fifty.

Gabbert has talent. Does he have enough to be a starting NFL QB; I don’t know. BTW I did not have him ranked as highly in the draft as he was taken. Here’s what I do know.

The Cards’ coaching staff has no idea how to coach a mobile QB. Those improvised 4th quarter runs could have been used earlier but I’m sure Gabbert was instructed to avoid running and if forced to throw the ball away if possible. They stunted his instincts from when I saw him in college. This mindset was made clear to me when in the second half under pressure he broke the pocket to the right. He reversed direction back though the pocket that had no Jags, just Cards standing around. They were in position to slow any pursuit from behind. When he crossed to the left side instead of pulling up and looking downfield he let the one downfield defender usher him out of bounds without getting the first. I’ve seen better from Gabbert elsewhere.

The Cards had a conservative game plan. I’ve read some criticism that Gabbert took the short throws. He did. I’m sure that’s exactly what he was told to do. It might help if receivers went to the first down line. The best way to win was to avoid turnovers. Gabbert has a big enough arm. He showed it swon the throw to Jaron. He wasn’t perfect, but which QB is.

What does today mean for the future. It has become more plausible that a Gabbert is at least a bridge. Still I want to see him against better teams. Would I still draft a QB? I’d decide who I want. If they’re there I’d likely take them. However, I need to look ahead. There are a few exceptional O-line prospects early in this draft. A new QB cannot succeed without a decent O-line. If 2018 is devoid of them, the Cards may be better to wait one more year on the QB and try to fix the overall roster in case the new QB has to play sooner than expected. Look what playing a QB with a bad roster did to Gabbert.

Try to keep in mind that Gabbert is working with real limitations. He’s got poor receivers, a weak line not much of a running game. It’s going to be hard to decide how good he can be as compared to how good he is. I think it’s best to take it one game at a time. Don’t forget even good QBs have occasional bad games. Let’s just see what this one can do before season’s end.

I think you have to go with Gabbert for the rest of the year to see if he improves and looks like he could compete for the number 1 spot next year. With 5 wins, they won't be picking in a spot to get their first or second choice of QB. I think that's okay because there really isn't a lot of talent on this team at WR, TE, OL, CB (outside of Peterson). Hopefully we can draft a player at a premium position (and not a middle linebacker/interior lineman).

Blaine Gabbert was asked what it meant for him to beat the Jaguars. His answer: "It was a big win for this team." He tried hard this week to not make the Jacksonville game about him.

There was a video of him on Twitter hugging AQShipley and shouting "*UCK THOSE M*THER *UCKERS"

He can get pretty salty, lol.

It's pretty much common knowledge that BA does not want his QBs to scramble. Someone told a story of him when Logan Thomas would start to run, he pulled him and said "we don't do that sh*t here" They have to stand and deliver - even if it means taking a big hit.

If the current coaching staff has no idea what to do with a mobile QB, they'll be out of a job soon enough

Im intrigued with gabbert going forward. When he learns more of the playbook maybe BA will call something other than dump routes. Let him compete for starting position nest season.

Tripe. He watched the coverages line up and went with the 2cd or 3rd receiver within a couple of seconds instead of waiting 3-4 seconds for the primary to develope deep on BAs 'biscuit' plays, consequently, we would get 12-15 yards and a first down instead of an forced incomplete or a sack (which would have been the result over and over with Stanton or even CP).

Dump routes... please, just say you hate Gabbert for whatever irrational reason you have, but don't try to snow us with that crap.

Had Gabbert been starting from day 1 our record would be a whole lot different (assuming they actually started tight ends who catch, like Seals-Jones along with him).

Can anyone name a former high first round draft pick who was mediocre for two different teams and then became a quality starter for his third team? I am struggling to think of a single example of something that many on this board are convinced could/will happen.

Which is exactly why BA must go. Win the next 5 and BA still must go, because the wins will be ALL Gabbert and very little BA.

Also if they played for 2 struggling teams within the times they were there. I'm not on the Gabbert hype train, but he has been playing alright. I like him over Drew.
