Az is a right to work state which for most employment issues means you have next to zero rights. One right you do have is that a non compete can't prevent you from working to earn your living

There is no non-compete clause to worry about here. They didn't break a contract, just didn't extend their current one.

This is pretty much how things worked out with Roc and Manuch's jump to KDUS. They let their contract with ESPN Radio 860 run out and jumped when it ended.

If Gambo and Ash let their current contract expire, I'd be willing to bet anything the two are jumping to KTAR when it relaunches as the all sports talk station. That'd be a great way to start things off for the station, which has promised to become one of the top Sports Talk radio stations in the country, nevermind Arizona.

I don't think the plan was to leave XTRA and go to KTAR, it just may work out that way.

To me the best we had was when Hacksaw was here followed closely by LaCava when he replaced Hack on KTAR. KTAR had a monopoly on local sports carried all ASU and Suns and did it first class. Those were the days compared to Gambo and Ash who rarely have an interview with someone you want to hear.

It was in their best interests to move on out and away from XTRA. Station is in a world of hurt.

Hmm... I dont know where you got this info, but it's got me a bit worried.

Will anything happen to Jim Rome? He's my sports talk highlight of the day.

I'll miss the rome-gambo/ash block from 10-6.... good times

Anyone know if KTAR currently streams audio over the www? Or, if they don't, do they plan to do so once the new sports-talk format is in place?

Also - any word out of XTRA 910 about who, if anyone, will replace Gambo and Ash?

Gambadoro, Asher end 10-year run on XTRA 910
By Mike Tulumello, Tribune
December 16, 2006
John Gambadoro and Mark Asher have decided to end their 10-year run as afternoon sportstalk-show hosts for KGME (910 AM), more commonly known as XTRA 910.

The two made the announcement as they signed off the air Friday afternoon, saying they wanted to pursue other opportunities.

After the show, Asher said the two had a clause in their contract that allowed them to opt out.

“We just kind of felt it was time to move on and explore other options,” Asher said. “It was a very tough decision.”

During the day reports surfaced in the Valley’s broadcast community that the pair would move to KTAR (620 AM) when that station moves to an all-sports format in January.

“That’s the rumor I’ve heard, but I’ve got no deal,” Asher said.

Ryan Hatch, KTAR’s new program director, said of such reports, “It’s news to me.”

Asked if he planned to hire the duo, Hatch said, “At this point, no.”

That's exactly what I was thinking. SDJ, I believe your in the radaio industry...... Do you think they would have non-compete clauses in their contracts? I hope they stay in the valley

Other radio jocks have moved from station to station all the time. MJ went from 1060 to 910 as one example, this happens alot.

Yeah nidan next to zero rights in the workplace. It would be sooooo much better to be forced to join a union and pay your dues to the mafia. Right to work is soooooooo awful.

Talk about worst sports show in town. There you have it. I always thought the positive side of sports was the worst until I heard that show. I can not listen to it for more then 10 minutes.

Wow, I'm gonna miss the show a lot. I used to call in and I enjoyed listening. But who will fill in? Are we gonna get Fox Sports Radio or another show?

That is good news. I bet it will be Big and Tall to replace them.

I don't know what the hell to think about Roc and Manuch.. I do know that the boss at KDUS acted like we had acquired Jim Rome himself when they decided to make the jump. I also know ESPN 860 made very little effort to try and retain them.

Take that for what it's worth.

I hope Fox Sports. They have the best shows in Sports Talk Radio.

Really? I can't stand Fox Sports radio. If I wanted to listen to guys scream about sports the way they do I would just get in a sports argument with my friends. The hour that Olbermann and Patrick do together is the best hour on radio. Plus the sports bash is good too.

Try listening to The Third Shift on Fox with Ben Maller on the weekends. Thats the best show off all time. They don't really argue exept for on the Weekday version with Jorge Sedano. I call in a lot and you usually don't have to wait very long. Its a 30 minute wait.

You should try listening one day but the only problem is its on at 12 A.M. to 4 A.M.
