Moves like this do not evoke confidence in the FO or the coaching staff. They just let the three best tacklers on the team go in FA. Yes, they signed a baller in Bethea, but he's 33 years old. And now they sign Dansby, at age 35?
Just watched the presser.... I am ready for the season now. Los is going to really have a huge emotional impact on the defense.
I'm shocked to see this much hate for this signing. The defense lacked leadership last year, that was apparent. Karlos is a huge upgrade mentally from Minter, and I'd almost bet he's an upgrade athletically. You add in the leadership he brings, this is a huge get for us this year.
I don't understand it either. Dansby has never done anything for the cardinals but play his ass off and play well. I guarantee he will get at least a couple of sweet interceptions. Think about how many ints and passes defended by our lbs since dansby left. You can count them on One hand. Dansby will do more than that this season.
Mitch you are also talking about how the Patriots do things. What would they have done?

New England always have a plan, speficalliy cheaper replacement who can almost offer the same performanceFirst of all, Krang, they wouldn't have 5 players take up 1/2 of the salary cap. Yes, they have the luxury of Tom Brady taking a team friendly salary, half of what he could command. But, still, overpaying a handful of players and making the cap top heavy, in their opinion, is not the way to build a championship caliber team. They have a knack for signing their core players to good, but not bank breaking long term deals well before they become UFAs. Gronk made $7M this year and Julian Edelman made $4.3M.
Secondly, they would have traded Campbell and Jefferson to get something in return if they knew, as the Cardinals did, in advance that they weren't going to sign them long-term.
Thirdly, they would have signed D.J. Swearinger to a deal like the one they just gave FS Duron Harmon---with a base salary of $4M a year plus incentives that could boost it to $5M per. They don't mind quirky players if they produce---like RB LeGarrette Blount, CB Aqib Talib and TE Martellus Bennett.
Fourthly, they pull off trades for other team's underachievers...like the one they made today for DE Kony Ealy, because they are confident that they can develop projects like Ealy.
Fifthly, I do not think they would have had any interest in re-signing C A.Q. Shipley if they drafted a center in the 4th round and they will draft another one this year to push last year's 4th rounder. They draft 2-3 OL every year and keep pushing the youth along. If they see a veteran like Nick Mangold on the market, they would see if he would be willing to take a market friendly deal. Yet, I do not think they would sign a 35 year old UFA ILB like Karlos Dansby because they would rather go with younger defensive players---so they would trade for one or take one early in the draft like they did when they drafted Hightower.
Sixthly, they wouldn't give any player $53M in guaranteed money, which is the main reason why they traded Chandler Jones. This year without Jones they schemed their QB pressures and did a great job, without marquis DEs.
is there really a lot of hate about this signing? Just cause Mitch doesn't like it and a couple others, doesn't mean it some kind of sweeping sentiment.
They were spotted together in a diner.Dansby, Dawson and Bethea can be roommates in Sun City West. There is your next Amazon Prime show. The Golden Boys.
Not digging the age they are adding. Definitely boom or bust

Glendale is quickly becoming "Last Vegas"

But the caveat is that they have Tom Brady and are winning Super Bowls which gives them a huge advantage over other teams. You want to play for a winner. Your endorsements go up, you become high profile. Granted they have a proactive approach that works and they deserve credit for taking advantage of being 'the Patriots' but their approach would not exactly work for the other 31 teams unless you do have probably the best QB of all time and possibly the best coach in the modern era
Well I like dansby for being a past card but isn't he pretty slow now? I hope we look at a few speed lb in the draft.
Like that dansby is back with the cards and he will retire as a card now.
