Gambo just said that the Suns were talking to the Magic late last night about McGrady and that the Rockets deal isn't finalized.

Gambo did still say that the Suns wouldn't be willing to give up Marion, JJ, the 7th pick, and another player. He said they would do Marion and 7th pick, etc., but no JJ.

And like the guy who posted it. I would be pissed off if we didn't get McGrady just because they HAD to keep JJ instead of #7.

Heck why not give up Marion and JJ? We could still replace Marion with Kobe, Ginbobili, Bruce Bowen or Darius Miles or our #7 pick.

I agree - we could replace JJ with the 7th pick or Zarko (hopefully - I really liked what I saw from his game playing he small forward spot) and then go out and still upgrade the team even more with all of our cap room. Tracy, Amare, Zarko - maybe Dampier and a point guard with the 7th pick - that team could be absolutely nasty - I mean besides the point guard spot - we could be looking at 6-8, 6-11, 6-10, 6-11 front line line - with Little Jake, Barbosa and CJ off the bench - not the greatest bench in the world - but a starting line-up that could dominate for years to come - especially if there is no more Shaq and Kobe.

Gambo was asked if Phoenix would offer JJ instead of the #7. He said they would prefer to give up the #7 pick but he didn't rule out they might offer JJ instead.

slin - I think we may be delaying the inevitable - I really think the Orlando deal is pretty much done - we need to accept that we may not get either Kobe or T-Mac and that we will always be the mediocre phoenix suns - mind you - that's not what I HOPE to happen - it's just what I fear - also - if you set your sights low - you won't be nearly as crushed with dissapointment.

The funny thing is go to Orlando board. 99% of their fans are praying that a deal with Phoenix still gets done rather than the Houston trade. They are desperate. I would be as well faced with the prospects of trading our superstar for Houston Rockets outcasts.

The most I would offer is probably Marion, Zarko, #7 and the rights to Vujanic.
And I would definately swap #7 and JJ if needed.

For reasons described in the “What would you rather give up?” thread, I think I would actually prefer to trade Marion+JJ instead of Marion+#7.

I’m not sure what to make of JJ, I might still be unsure at the end of the season, and he will be a restricted free agent, which perhaps means the prospect of giving a big contract to a player I’m still not sure of, or letting him walk.

The #7 pick might be just as good as JJ, might even be better, and will play under rookie scale for four seasons before we have to make any decisions about how to handle his free agency.

totally agree - but I think we're just whistling dixie because this trade is as good as done. Waiting until July 1st and then until July 15th is going to be hell.

Here is my idea

Marion, Johnson, Zarko and Vujanic for TMac.

Capspace ~16-17M$

Sign Dampier for 7M$
Sign Darius Miles for 6M$
Sign McDyess for 3M$
Wesley Person for the veteran minimum

Trade Howard Eisley for a scrub SF with similiar contract like Eddie Robinson.

Dampier/Voshkul/Lampe
Amare/Dice
Miles/Robinson
TMac/Jacobsen/Person
Harris/Barbosa

Or instead of Dampier and Dice for 10M$, Kenyon Martin for 10M$. Play Amare/Martin/Miles/McGrady/Barbosa or #7.

The possibilitis would still be endless almost even if we give up that much for TMac it should be worth it.

Heck even go for Iguodala or Josh Smith at #7 and Nash and Dampier in free agency.

That would even make sense considering Colangelo's comments about no PG at #7 possibly beating out Leandro.

Dampier/Voshkul/Lampe
Amare/Dice
TMac/Robinson or other
Iguodala or Josh Smith/Casey Jacobsen
Nash/Barbosa

That’s an unbelievably strong statement. It is almost certain that at least one of Gordon, Harris, or Livingston will be on the board at #7. He feels that none of these is likely to turn out better than Leandro? Leandro must have had one hell of an offseason.

I think it would have to more with the new player learning his role on the team and adjusting to the NBA. I personaly don't think the Suns hold alot a value on this pick and are really looking at trading it and moving down.

The Magic writer for the Orlando Sentinal was just on ESPN News. He said if he were the GM there is absolutely NO WAY he would do this trade, unless Francis moved on and they got something very good for him.

He said he believes that Stevie will never put on a magic uniform and may be traded to another team. The only example he gave was to Seattle for Ray Allen.

He also said he would bet that the Magic pick Howard at number 1, leaving Okafor for the Cats at number 2.

Wait a second. Just because he said to a local newspaper that Barbosa is a better starter at point guard right now and anybody who would be there at #7 it doesn't mean he actually believes that is true. He is probably just supporting the guy that is in a Phoenix Suns uniform right now. I mean what is he supposed to say? "Well, Barbosa is good, but I think so and so is better?" I don't think so.

Originally I was one of the guys that would have been willing to give up a ton of talent to get Tracy McGrady. I don't think so now. I might be willing to give up Shawn Marion and JJ. Maybe. I would give up Shawn Marion and the #7 draft pick. I would throw Casey Jacobsen into the next without a second thought. That's about it.

Word is the Tmac/Francis trade will be announced in the next day or so, and Francis will be traded either to Seattle for Ray Allen or Washington for Gilbert Arenas.

So, does this mean that we were not offering anything like what was rumored?

Would Orlando actually prefer something like Allen/Mobley, or Arenas/Mobley, to Marion/JJ or Marion/#7?

Either we never offered much beyond Marion up, or Marion/Casey—or Magic management is just totally looney.

Heck, even Marion up is arguably better than what they’re going to end up with.

No kidding. If I was a Magic fan, I'd be furious.

I wonder if a deal for Ray Allen would be contingent on him re-signing. I guess not because he would be nuts to do so. The Washington Wizards would surely have to add more than just Arenas to get Steve Francis.

Arenas is younger, cheaper and better than Francis.

I don't think Francis would agree to play in Seattle. It is close to Vancouver too.

Arenas is younger and slightly cheaper than Steve Francis. He also spent almost the entire last season on the injured list. Talent wise I would say Francis is clearly better than Arenas. I agree that Francis has his problems, but I think some of you are really underestimating his value around the NBA.

Or McGrady said he'd refuse to re-sign with Phoenix, so the Suns pulled out. Which is possible.
