northern card...not sure if the GM totally said no to emmitt - or if he said - we will take him on a 1 year deal for the minimum as a backup..the Bucs were tight on cap space.. and this was before the pittman run in with the law (but before they had thomas jones)... So - I guess the speculation is that they may have at some pointed given emmitt the minimum instead of trading for thomas jones - but it is pure speculation..

Well, Smith is out at least three weeks. Maybe more. We will see how Marcel takes on the new responsibility.
I've played on many losing teams and often said things in the heat of it that I regretted later. It is possible that all of this is another misunderstanding. Maybe Emmitt will rethink that position as Dallas starts into the meat of their schedule. I seriously doubt that they will be in first place for much longer. But one thing for certain is that Parcells didn't want Emmitt. For some reason we did. Now we all have to live with it.
