Say what you will about Gambo, when it comes to the Suns near the end, he usually is right on with his sources and which way the Suns are leaning..

He just tweeted the Suns have narrowed their selection between Markief Morris and Iman Shumpart...

:bang:

the hilarious thing is they actually think Marcus is better, but will select Markief anyway...

Or a guy who until a week ago was considered borderline undrafted and now the Suns may take him in the freakin lottery...

I hope he is wrong, but when it comes to these things he usually in not...

I'm not opposed necessarily to Markieff. Well, I am opposed to his name. What is a Markieff anyway? I digress.

If Markieff could play the role of a Horace Grant, that's all this team needs and it frees the Suns up for a dynamic 1-2, 1-3, or 2-3 combo. I'd prefer a simple facilitator/defender type at PG with dynamic wings leaving Morris-Gortat as the traditional and productive bigs. That's the type of team I envision....

Taking Markief Morris ahead of guys like Tristan Thompson and Bismack Biyombo would be like taking Robin Lopez ahead of Marreese Speights and Roy Hibbert.

So we should definitely expect that.

Shumpert was on a bad team. Fredette was on a bad team but took his team to the tournament. Gag. Why do I even bother to pay attention. I have this addiction that started from childhood but it is just not worth it. Shumpert? Really?!!!!!!!

Georgia Tech lost their 3 big men a year ago (Derrick Favors and Gani Lawal) etc. but were a good Team that last year with that Team. Without looking at stats had a really strong defensive Team... I am in favor of Iman Shumpert but would like a 2nd First Round Pick to get a PF along with Shumpert.

and I've read that Tristan Thompson or Kemba Walker would be the Pick if available but the Suns don't expect those two to be there. Klay Thompson is probably another Prospect they'd take but the Team doesn't feel he'll be there at #13.

I'd probably Draft Bismack Biyombo over both Markieff Morris and Iman Shumpert; I'm not sure how the Suns feel about him though.

Reports have been consistent that both Marcus and Markief have been stroking 3's like they were pros at all workouts. Apparently they both have jumpshots not seen at Kansas.

maybe its just me, but anytime I hear of a guy who is showing he can hit shots in workouts, yet I have seen little evidence of it in real games I always think Skita...

Who in full disclosure I did like in 2002.. learned my lesson there...

It is just depressing to think about the Suns.. they could have been a dynasty (for real), and yet they have the bleakest future of ANY team in the NBA...

Seriously.. any team

And knowing this, watching someone like thompson, or Jimmer being on board and hearing morris or shumpart's name being called is just further evidence of how far the suns have fallen, and the most exciting part of our team is a 37 year old with 1-2 years left and a Center who is AT BEST the third best player on a championship contender...

I'm going to go cry or puke, I just don't know which one yet..

So it sounds like:
1. Walker
2. Thompson
3. Morris
4. Shumpert

or 1 and 2 may be reversed. We haven't heard much about Walker because he wasn't supposed to be available, but he could be interesting if he falls. After reading up on Shumpert, I'm really intrigued. His build and game remind me of Tyreke Evans. I have a feeling we'll end up with Morris. Ugh...

If I had to choose between Markief and Iman, I guess I would choose Markief. The Suns desperately need a presence down low and he is termed tough. Also he reportedly has a nice perimeter shot but just lacks an intermediate game which he should be able to develop. I don't like the choices the Suns appear stuck on. However, drafting a SG that can't shoot scares me more. I don't like choosing a player because he just has a good combine. I'm glad the Suns are liking defense but one can go too far the other direction. BPA should rule. I'm liking Bismack if he is there. Let's hope the Suns have a plan besides throwing darts at a wall.

I find it a little funny that you have such strong opinions, positive or negative, about all of the players you mentioned.

I just hope he is Horace and not Harvey. Considering our recent history with brothers like Lopez, Collins, Griffin, and Graham, I'm not sure I trust the front office to pick the right one.

To be fair.. 2 of the opinions (the suns don't have a future) and choosing a guard who can't shoot to save his life and was considered at best a 2nd round pick just 2 weeks ago.. may be strong opinons... but you can't really argue them...

like saying killing puppies is a horrible act.. strong opinion... but the correct one ;)

and yes... I just compared the suns future to killing a puppy...

Just for the record, Gambo is the least reliable reporter I know of.
I can not think of anything that he was actually right about.

He always names a list of players the Suns like and calls the pick every year before the Suns are on the clock. He's not that knowledgeable, but he gets info from someone. My theory is Coro floats him stuff that he can't print.

Uh, no. Coro doesn't share information with Gambo. LOL No way in hell.

Gambo is, however, a family summer vacation partner with a guy named Sarver. This is 100 percent true.

Yeah... Gambo atleast when it comes to the Suns and Drafts has sources for sure...

Off the top of my head, he called Robin Lopez 2 days before the draft as pretty much a done deal, and did the same thing with Earl Clark (to be fair clark was named by a variety of outlets as well..)

At this point (unless Walker falls) I would be VERY surprised if our pick was anyone other than Shumpart or Morris..

And I absolutely agree, no way does coro feed Gambo.. ;)

Wow.....can't wait for our next piece of the puzzle that the Suns call a "very important piece of our future".

Has next years draft started yet?

You journalists are so touchy when it comes to sources. It was just a theory.

Iman Shumpert could be Rajon Rondo like on defensive end, along with the rebounding numbers and steals... he made twice as many 3PTers but had similar percantages there (his weakness). He makes 4.5 free throws a game though at around 80 percent.

Rondo made around one assist more a game. Shumpert is super athletic and has more size than Rondo - 3PT shooting will need to improve but can play 3 positions on the Suns.
