I don't understand why Holland is still the closer.
Because there is no one else better at this time. Lopez is the closest
and he's had some rough goings. And he is too young to receive
another desperation promotion.

With the whole bullpen falling apart, I don't see how Mike Butcher
remains the pitching coach. No matter who you give him, they
come apart over time.

This. Our pitcher drove in one of the two scored runs...against a pitiful team. They may still win 3 of 4 in this series but anything less than that should be considered failure.

Is the bullpen truly talented enough? I have my doubts. That is on Hazen not Butcher.

Greinke has just GOT to want to get the hell away from the Diamondbacks. This is a HOF pitcher playing on a simply bad baseball team. Sure, the money is good, but playing with a team that has your back and helps you win is pretty damned good, too......

But all indications are he is happy here and really doesn't want to leave.

Boy, I just don't get that. I feel awful for him......
I wouldn't. At this stage of his career, he is probably looking for peace of mind and not much stress.

He is the ace of the staff here in the desert, getting by with slow pitches. No pressure!

And, if anyone is a free spirit, it's Greinke.

He can still throw a 95mph fastball. That was pretty much top speed for Shilling, as I recall....

I believe he is 10-4. What would he be with a decent bullpen, or bullpen coach?

I think that Greinke's 95 mph fastballs are few and far between.

His slow pitches are clearly keeping batter off stride as he gets older.

True..... he's still got good velocity, though. As a friend of mine who played some AA ball told me, "there's a number of guys who can throw a 100mph fastball. It's where you put it and the other pitches you have to back it up." Randy's was his slider and Shillings was his splitter.
