And it figures that Leake would have his best start as a Dback, while our bats stayed on the team bus...

Just admit you are wrong. It is not personal. It is fact. I've been wrong many times and have admitted it. You, not so much. It seems you truly believe you know more than the manager, from the couch.

Avila looks so potent at the plate. He just looks like a hitter.

I guess that doesn't determine the outcome.

Especially vs. a lefty. :)

Yeah, their bullpen is as bad as ours. What happened to all the good bullpens?
That is really a good question. Just about everything else this year
can be explained. Saber metrics and the obsession with lift. Hitting
into shifts.

But why bad bullpens? Is it because pitching coaches in the past
paid more attention to scouting starting pitchers, but now review
the whole bullpen prior to each game? That could explain it.

He is a .230 hitter that hits into the shift and is insulted that someone suggest he hit to the opposite field as if that is an impossible act. They taught us that in Little League and I hit .770 doing that. Granted that was Little League but still...

Is it because starters exit so early and put enormous pressure on relievers with the extra innings of relief?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how much we disagree. At the end of the day we all want to see the Dbacks win and, hopefully someday, win another World Series.

Only the Dbacks could have a guy hit a homerun and pull up lame

Christian Walker's bat is still hot. A clutch 2-out RBI single for an insurance run.

I believe it is a combo of the following:

1. The "quality start" metric had caused starters to change their mentality and how they approach pitching. All they want is six innings in most cares, which leads to...

2. Less aggression by starters and they nibble around the zone which leads to more 20+ pitch innings, which leads to...

3. Managers over thinking bullpen usage and playing this micro matchup game which, I believe causes these relievers to get more innings on their arms...

4. Which gives scouts a bigger sample to provide to hitters about relief pitchers and how to attack them...

5. So the relief pitchers start nibbling around the zone and putting more pitches on their arms and on tape.

Excellent summation!

Leake has 84 pitches through 7 with 60 strikes. Who is this guy?
