Calhoun with a 2-run HR in the 1st. Walker scores.

MadBum gets a lead to work with.

Varsho and Kelly with B-2-B solo HR's in the 2nd.

'Hope the all-or-nothing approach works this game.

Good to see MadBum given, now, a 4-run lead.

I'm watching the Mercury elimination game. They're down at the half,
but they are the rested team.

It would be nice to see the Mercury and the D-backs both win tonight.

Calhoun with a 3-run HR in the 3rd. His second of the game.

The Angels come back with 1 in the bottom of the 3rd.
On a solo HR, of course. It's not baseball, it's a home run
hitting contest.

At least we have the lead this game.

Bumgarner is trash, and so is Torey.

Blowing an 8-1 lead. Ugh!

Well, the Mercury win their WNBA elimination game, with a
3-point shot at the buzzer by a role player on the team, to
win by one point.

Thursday they play another elimination game.

And now, I see that the D-backs lead is down to 2, 8-6
after 5.
.
And Bumgardner got bombed.

Go, Mercury. Leaving the D-backs as our only active
team is not very reassuring.

Mad Bum gave up 6 runs on 15 pitches in the 5th,
I think Steve said. And now a leadoff double in the
6th. BB predicts that if he gives up another hit,
he's gone. And another double cuts the D-backs
lead to one. And MadBun is still pitching.

Great decision making, Torey. An 8-1 lead is now
8-7. And Torey snoozes.

And another hit, 3 consecutive doubles, and the
game is tied. And Lovullo still snoozes.

I think the best way to describe him is passive!

Steve said Lovullo was waiting for a left-on-left.

Yeah, Torey, keep waiting! Passive!

Except for the two games in which he was tossed,
when he was passive-aggressive. And he looked so
uncomfortable doing it.

Man, I hope the Mercury keep winning. It would
suck for this team to be the only game in town.

I am really glad that this is such a short season.

Once again in spite of Torey, who really couldn't have managed the game any worse.

In a double irony, the win came in the form of a solo home run (still their preferred way of scoring) off of Matt Andriese (who has sucked no matter where he has played)...

Poor decision making by Torey but the MadBum signing is looking worse with every start

Indeed. Meanwhile, Hazen was also the one who traded for Andriese a couple of years ago. While not at the awful level of Dave Stewart, I am thinking more and more that Hazen really isn't a good GM after all...

Do you think Jake Lamb should been have on the roster as long as he was? Or that Mathisen should be on the roster at all? Or that we didn't get fleeced in the Goldy trade? Or that the MadBum signing isn't proving to be Russ Ortiz level bad? Or that the Steven Souza trade wasn't a dud? Or that the trades for Andriese and Diekman weren't busts? Or that Rondon was a good signing? Or that the bullpen hasn't been a consistent disaster starting in 2018? Or that having a first round draft pick not sign was good? Or that he didn't buy high on Starling Marte and sell low on him after 35 games? Or that our MLB roster and farm system aren't both currently heading in the wrong direction?

And that's not to mention the undeserved loyalty to a Manager who is clearly in way over his head...

No GM is perfect, especially one that has to balance a low payroll.

Teams like the Dodgers and Yankees make mistakes all the time, they can afford to cut ties.

He has rebuilt the farm system. Made good signings/trades for the most part.

When he took over, the farm system was in shambles, and near the bottom of the league. It is still rated towards the top, only a few spots lower but you think that is heading in the wrong direction.

2020 moves I am not going to judge anyone on. It is such a weird season that moves that SHOULD have worked (Bumgartner, Marte, Rondon) that he got high marks for doing aren't working, but player performance is really beyond the GM"s control.

Dbacks didn't give up much of anything for Andriese, probably got back a better prospect from the Angels than what they gave up to get him. All GM's do moves like this with relief pitchers. All GM's have misses with relief pitchers.

Your histronics are laughable.

All good points, but don't waste your time @Dback Jon. Lovullo and Hazen could find a cure for cancer and some would say "Look at all the oncologists they put out of work"

Torey is 1 win away from win #280 as Diamondbacks manager in less than 4 full seasons.

And Bob Brenly won 303 games in roughly the same period of time. Should we have kept him as well?...
