No, this isn't a typo. I'm just getting ready, cause we're not gonna lose game 6.

Who is this? Frank Johnson?

Game 6 is ours, Johnson says

Suns, Spurs vow to win

The series has become a game of promises. One game. Two promises.

Suns coach Frank Johnson made his own promise Wednesday.

"Game 6 is ours," he said.

Easy for him to say.

If the Suns don't beat San Antonio tonight at America West Arena, their only guarantee is vacation.

With a 3-2 lead, the Spurs are one victory from finishing the best-of-seven series. They are halfway through a promise delivered by forward Tim Duncan.

After a Spurs loss Sunday in Game 4, Duncan vowed the Spurs would win the next two. They took the first step by winning Game 5 Tuesday night.

"I guess we'll see which Wake Forest guy is smarter," Johnson said of Duncan, a fellow Demon Deacons alum.

Promises, promises.

The only sure thing about this series is that there aren't any.

On the one side, there has been the Spurs' inability to finish. If Duncan hadn't missed two free throws late in regulation of Game 1 and if they hadn't blown a 12-point fourth-quarter lead in Game 4, the series would have been a San Antonio sweep.

On the other, there is the Suns' lack of any real urgency until all seems lost. They battle back in crazy fits of energy.

In the end, they may spend their summer agonizing over their failure to win Game 2 when David Robinson was sidelined by a knee injury.

How will it all end? Will it continue with a climactic Game 7 Saturday in San Antonio?

Here are a few possibilities, none of them promises:

• More of Bo Outlaw. He started the second half Tuesday. With Outlaw as a roving free agent in a pressure defense, the Suns cut a 24-point deficit to 10 in the third quarter. In two of the Suns' three losses - Game 2 and Game 3 - Outlaw played fewer than 10 minutes.

"With him, we do create an up tempo," said Johnson, adding that Outlaw's defensive value is offset by his lack of scoring.

• Stephon Marbury's shoulder. The series could turn on how it feels. If he's still feeling numbness in his right fingers, the Suns could be in trouble. If not, a Game 7 is a real possibility. The other option is more offense from Penny Hardaway, Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire and Joe Johnson.

• Stephen Jackson's right ankle. The Spurs swingman injured a tendon Tuesday night in the first half and didn't play in the second. A Suns double team in Game 4 took him out of the mix after he averaged 22 points through the first three.

The Spurs are saying he will play tonight.

• The Malik Rose factor. Actually, Rose is one of several San Antonio factors. With his 27 points and 13 rebounds in Game 5, he is just the latest. First there was Jackson. Then there was Danny Ferry with 10 rebounds, playing for the injured Robinson. Then there was Tony Parker with 29 points in Game 3. Then there was Bruce Bowen with 19 in Game 4.

Each has complemented Duncan, who has been the most dependable force throughout. If another contribution comes from somebody else on the San Antonio roster and the Suns don't counter, Duncan has the better chance of fulfilling his promise.

"I believe in my heart that we're going to win," Marbury said. "There's no doubt about it. I believe that more than anything in this world.

"Our coach set the bar for us."

Now, Marbury said, it's up to the Suns to support him.

"If we're going to lose, we're going to go down blazing," he said.

"I won't say (guarantees) are cheap. I would say it's a feeling you've got based on the group that surrounds you. Now if it was Game 7 and he said that? Then I'd probably gag him.

"We have no choice if we want to stay alive."

i'm going to miss the first half tonight so the suns will play real good. when I turned the game off after they were down 24 we cut it to 6. i turned it back on and we lost :(

Goals tonight: stay close the 1st quarter. win the 2nd quarter. Up or within 3 at half-time = WIN

This is funny with all the curses talk. I am in Portland and a friend of mine up here is a big Suns fan too. The 1st and 4th games we taped and watched later due to schedule conflicts while avoiding the results. Both games they Won! Games 2, 3, and 5 we watched live and lost....so we agreed that tonight tho we will be around to watch it, we will tape it and watch the replay therefor doing our part! Go Suns!!! They do play their best when put on the ropes, game 7 for sure!

KloD it is good to see your doing what is best for the team! Unlike WastedFate who has said he is bad luck. The Game 4 that I went to we won. Now I am going to Game 6 and we will when. If we would like to start a fund to send me to SA for Game 7 I would be more than willing.
