No. Just because book 3 is the best, so far, doesn't mean book 4 or 5 are in any way bad. Now, book 4 is frustrating because of its specific story lines--he screwed up by not following several of the key story lines, and using the first half of book 5 to catch the other ones up. I guarantee you the TV show won't do it that way, so it'll all be good.

I believe Book 3 is the one they're splitting into 2 seasons.

Oh gotcha, I thought they were combining books 4 and 5 in season 4.

Then will it go down the tubes season four? I heard that one season will encompass 2 books is that this season or next season? I havent read any of the books.

If they combined two books into one season it would makes sense for that to be books 4 and 5. The reason being that those books take place during roughly the same time frame. Basically Book 4 is in one part of the world and then book 5 catches up with what was going on in the rest of the world. Hated how Martin did that but it is what it is.

They certainly won't combine books 4 and 5--way too much material for one season. What I suspect they will do is make books 4 and 5 into two seasons, but combine the two in each season because of the storyline problem. How the idiot publishers let him do that, I have no idea.

I found these quotes from last year regarding HBO's plan for the future seasons:

http://screenrant.com/game-thrones-season-3-4-5-details-aco-160936/

Well… “A Storm of Swords” is too long to fit in a single season. And as readers know, “A Feast for Crows” and “A Dance with Dragons” takes place during roughly the same time frame, so we’ll have to fold those together. The plan, if we’re lucky enough to be given the opportunity to see it through, is to use as many seasons as we need to tell the story as a whole, to do justice to George’s entire opus.

We’re not looking at our series as a book-by-book adaptation so much as an adaptation of George’s entire saga. In other words, in our minds season two is not “A Clash of Kings.” It is the second season of our adaptation of “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

So it sounds like they are moving away from Season X = Book X.

I also found this:

http://www.tvrage.com/news/4531/game-of-thrones-star-talks-season-4

The fourth season, which will adapt the second half of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' book three, 'A Storm of Swords' (and maybe some of the fourth/fifth books),

http://screenrant.com/game-thrones-season-3-longer-episodes/

In fact, only the first half of Martin’s 973-page hardcover book (or 1,216-page paperback novel) – his heftiest A Song of Ice and Fire installment… yet – is going to be covered in Game of Throne‘s third season.

So it sounds like Season 3 is only half of the third book and Season 4 will be the second half with possibly some of book 4&5 sprinked in at the end.

Can't wait. This is the season I've been waiting for since they announced it was going to be a TV show. Book 3 is by far the best of the series, and it will be split over 2 seasons. The next two years should make for some quality TV.

Awesome.
I wish they wouldn't have left out Strong Belwas, and that they had dragged out discovering who Barristan the Bold was, but that's a petty detail.

Nice start to the season.

I don't think this is too spoilery, but I like the nod to the books with Tyrion's nose. In the books, he lost his nose at Blackwater (the battle at the end of Season 2) and I wondered how they would handle it in the TV show.

Those types of subtle changes, without dismissing the source material completely, are fun.

The scene in there with his father was AWESOME!

Another great episode. I'm really having a hard time watching these one at a time. That hour really seems to fly by.

Starting to see some differences from the books.

Don't remember Catelyn sharing her feelings about Jon as a baby.

Also didn't everyone think Bran and Rickon were killed by Greyjoy? In the show it appears that may not be the case?

I do believe the story about Jon getting sick was new.

Which books did you read? Bran and Rickon were hidden in the tombs of Winterfell by Osha in the book and escaped Winterfell. The two burned children were the miller's children, which was where Greyjoy and soldiers were, when they lost Bran and Rickon's tracks. Bran and the Reed Children BTW plays a huge part of the later books.

yeah I know that but I thought that everyone (The rest of the Starks) believed Bran and Rickon were dead. No one knew those bodies were the millers children other than Theon and his crew and of course Bran's group.

Yeah the story lines are getting complicated which might trip up the average viewer. Plus there was a lack of topless women in the last two episodes.

Madcarddisease is right in his last spoiler--this was a definite change.

Yeah, the last episode didn't spark much for me either. I know why they did some of what they did, though, so it's worth the wait.

Have to set stuff up. Get ready to see it ramp up real quick now that all the storylines have been set into motion.

Yep. The stuff is going to hit the fan here really soon. Hence why I'm dying only being able to watch 1 hour at a time. I know what is coming and can't wait to see it come to life on TV.

The question is if we're going to see it in this season.

I've read that this season would be first half of "Storm of Swords" and the season 4 the seceond half plus the some of "Feast for Crows".

To everyone that have not read the books - this is silence before the storm. Couldn't describe it better myself, because a lot of stuff is really going to hit the fan and change the entire story completely. There are 3½ major events in the second half of "Storm of Swords" that will take your breath away. I had to stop reading for about a week after the biggest one of those.

The Red Wedding, of course

Look at the episode titles, and you should be able to figure out what will happen when, if you've read the books. Hint hint--there's a reason IMDB doesn't have a few of the episode names listed.
