Beginning to believe the main thrust of GoT is 'People Making Crap Decisions'.
Jon Snow - "Uhmm, I conceed everything you were hoping to win in war, with peace, but you want me to be your hostage and cripple Stannis' war on my family's killer by using his fleet? Sounds like a good plan!
Dani Targarian - "I could offer my dragons another meal, unless you give the names of the killer masked ninjas... but instead I'll marry you."
Sansa Stupid - "Go into the dark kennel with attack dogs that has only one locked means of egress because somebody I just met tells me to? Yeah, that works for me."
Jora Moron - "I'm setting a course for the one place infested with people that just have to touch you to kill you. I hope the wind gets us there quickly."

so far, one great episode out of five this season. bummed by my relative boredom watching the show this season.
LOL - so true - especially the decisions made by Sansa and Dani.
Jora's I could almost understand, the others, not so much

This series has always had charismatic, interesting "baddies". This season is seriously lacking that conflict. Jamie has become dynamic and, if not likeable, understandable. Cersei and Margaery's shtick has been going in a circle for too many seasons; just get in a hair-pulling, clothes-ripping cat-fight already. Baelish seems to be forgotten. The Red Priestess gets naked enough to never really dislike her. The Sand paramore from 'Rome' wasn't believable. Stannis is now a grammar-nazi philanthropist. The only ones left are the Boltons, and this is where the writers have failed miserably.
All the other antagonists were shown doing bad things. With Roose Bolton, other than than the Red Wedding, we only hear about his deeds. Ramsey is obviously bat-crap creepy, but that just increases a suspicion that one good smack to the head will send him cowering. I'm not hoping for snuff-flick flaying and mutilations to be shown, but the Boltons seem more like a Westeros version of 'The Addams Family' without the kooky part. Either show us some dirty deeds, or just make it a Bronn and King-Slayer re-make of the Bing Crosby and Bob Hope "Road to..." movies.
i think this is my issue as well. this show has been exceedingly good at killing off GREAT characters only to replace them with characters that are just as good, if not better... but I'm really missing the dynamic that Joffrey, Tywin... and even The Hound brought to the show.
Dany's been stuck in the same exact place for seeming eternity, both geograhpically and mentally, Westeros and the religion thing isn't all that interesting to me and as usual, I could give two craps about whatever Jon Snow's boring ass is doing.

Count yourself lucky you aren't a book reader, then. Dany's waffling is like a moment in time on the show compared to an eternity in the books. It even has a frickin' name--the Meerenese Knot.

I mean, I'm a huge GoT geek, and I've read a lot of essays about the Mereenese Knot, so I have a ton of insight into it. Yes, it's highly interesting in an academic way. I love the twists and political turns. It's Dany trying to find her way as a leader, to not be the brutal dictator her grandfather was. The problem is, it lasts too damn long in the books. That's one good change they made to her storyline in the show. They still made an epic screwup, but speeding her along was the right choice.
IMO they sped her along too quickly....they had to get the dragons on the screen to keep the buzz. The first couple seasons they spend way too much time on her,...now they are stuck in a funk and it appears they only switch to her to get in a dragon shot.
It also looks like they are going to turn Ramsey Bolton into another Joffrey scenario for Sansa.
cannot figure out how to make a spoiler drop down,...sorry...
for those of you reading the books, isn't this about the time we should start seeing that "Mystery Targaryen" being moved closer to Dany?
just can't get in to this season. Tyrion's storyline is really the only one I'm really into. Arya's storyline is even beginning to bore me!
Just not getting the twists and turns in this season. I mean, who didn't see Cercei's plan coming from a mile away?
Man, they are absolutely flubbing the Sansa story line. In a terrible, boring, non-compelling way. Ugh.
The Sand Snakes crap has been pathetic too.
Otherwise I'm liking it. I think the show's quality is on the downhill side, yes, but that's because of the source material. Storm of Swords was the absolute peak. I hope it regains traction in Winds of Winter and Dream of Spring. We'll see.
