Beginning to believe the main thrust of GoT is 'People Making Crap Decisions'.

Jon Snow - "Uhmm, I conceed everything you were hoping to win in war, with peace, but you want me to be your hostage and cripple Stannis' war on my family's killer by using his fleet? Sounds like a good plan!

Dani Targarian - "I could offer my dragons another meal, unless you give the names of the killer masked ninjas... but instead I'll marry you."

Sansa Stupid - "Go into the dark kennel with attack dogs that has only one locked means of egress because somebody I just met tells me to? Yeah, that works for me."

Jora Moron - "I'm setting a course for the one place infested with people that just have to touch you to kill you. I hope the wind gets us there quickly."

You took the words out of my mouth. This is the first episode in a long time where I finished and felt WTH??? Stupid decision after stupid decision. My guess is this was a filler episode with the writers who didn't think things through.

Plus I agree with Stout. They gave you all these flashbacks of things we have not see in some time....only to have the plot points of those things not really move anywhere after the episode. So annoying.

LOL - so true - especially the decisions made by Sansa and Dani.

Jora's I could almost understand, the others, not so much

See I thought the worst was Jon Snow's. I mean.....hey.....go with the people who killed your brothers, you joined, ultimately betrayed, jailed their leader and then go put yourself in their hands to be tortured and killed. All with the massive assumption that they wouldn't be so enraged they would even listen to you in the first place.

Forget the fact you have a new found position within the Watch and you are the newly elected leader. Just take off and put yourself in harms way now. Great leadership skills there.

Wow...what a massive pile in terms of writing. I don't know if any of you watch The Vikings but if this happened in the Vikings? Jon Snow would go on his mission and never return...guaranteed.

This series has always had charismatic, interesting "baddies". This season is seriously lacking that conflict. Jamie has become dynamic and, if not likeable, understandable. Cersei and Margaery's shtick has been going in a circle for too many seasons; just get in a hair-pulling, clothes-ripping cat-fight already. Baelish seems to be forgotten. The Red Priestess gets naked enough to never really dislike her. The Sand paramore from 'Rome' wasn't believable. Stannis is now a grammar-nazi philanthropist. The only ones left are the Boltons, and this is where the writers have failed miserably.

All the other antagonists were shown doing bad things. With Roose Bolton, other than than the Red Wedding, we only hear about his deeds. Ramsey is obviously bat-crap creepy, but that just increases a suspicion that one good smack to the head will send him cowering. I'm not hoping for snuff-flick flaying and mutilations to be shown, but the Boltons seem more like a Westeros version of 'The Addams Family' without the kooky part. Either show us some dirty deeds, or just make it a Bronn and King-Slayer re-make of the Bing Crosby and Bob Hope "Road to..." movies.

I think Sansa had to comply because Miranda threatened to slice her with those blade-like hip bones.

i think this is my issue as well. this show has been exceedingly good at killing off GREAT characters only to replace them with characters that are just as good, if not better... but I'm really missing the dynamic that Joffrey, Tywin... and even The Hound brought to the show.

Dany's been stuck in the same exact place for seeming eternity, both geograhpically and mentally, Westeros and the religion thing isn't all that interesting to me and as usual, I could give two craps about whatever Jon Snow's boring ass is doing.

Actually I am the opposite. My problem with the character is that I want them to move it along. Becoming the Lord of the Watch was a step in the right direction but it seems like it takes a season just for his character to take a single step. His character could be epic. He could exact revenge for the Stark family. I mean it seems like eons ago the Stark's were betrayed and none of the surviving members of the family have done squat.

This show is too methodical for it's own good. I get why that happened before so they could cover the books and "pace" the show. However, that ship has sailed with the announcement the show will get to the end before the books do.

Frack...just do your own thing...stick with the general story arc and guidelines. Pick up the pace.

I am starting to think this season is like The Two Towers - not real exciting, too long, but needed to set up the next round of action.

Count yourself lucky you aren't a book reader, then. Dany's waffling is like a moment in time on the show compared to an eternity in the books. It even has a frickin' name--the Meerenese Knot.

lol... that sucks. she was such an interesting/strong character through the first two, maybe even three seasons of the show and now her story just continually goes nowhere.

I also think this season suffers from veering away from it's remaining GREAT characters... not enough Arya, Tyrion, Jaime. I'm a little tired of Cersei, don't give a crap about anyone in Dorne, Stannis is a collosal bore teamed up with the remaining Boy Scout Jon Snow and the Bolton's... major eh.

Ain't that the truth. I got to the point I would just skim over anything related to her or Meerene.

I mean, I'm a huge GoT geek, and I've read a lot of essays about the Mereenese Knot, so I have a ton of insight into it. Yes, it's highly interesting in an academic way. I love the twists and political turns. It's Dany trying to find her way as a leader, to not be the brutal dictator her grandfather was. The problem is, it lasts too damn long in the books. That's one good change they made to her storyline in the show. They still made an epic screwup, but speeding her along was the right choice.

IMO they sped her along too quickly....they had to get the dragons on the screen to keep the buzz. The first couple seasons they spend way too much time on her,...now they are stuck in a funk and it appears they only switch to her to get in a dragon shot.
It also looks like they are going to turn Ramsey Bolton into another Joffrey scenario for Sansa.

cannot figure out how to make a spoiler drop down,...sorry...

for those of you reading the books, isn't this about the time we should start seeing that "Mystery Targaryen" being moved closer to Dany?

You use a [ followed with spoiler, followed with a ]. To end it, do the same thing, only with a / before spoiler.

Yeah, it looks like they're doing Ramsay/Joffrey, and it SUCKS!!!

just can't get in to this season. Tyrion's storyline is really the only one I'm really into. Arya's storyline is even beginning to bore me!

Just not getting the twists and turns in this season. I mean, who didn't see Cercei's plan coming from a mile away?

Agreed - last night was a snoozer.

It must be my TV, but it only happens on GOT and TWD where the it comes out very dark, and hard to see anything. Are they just trying to be too gritty for their own good? Of all the TV I watch, it is only these two shows that this happens.

You guys are pretty harsh.

Anyone else notice the subtle tease of R+L=J when Maester Aemon was talking to Sam? Or am I reading to much into it?

I have heard this is also a problem in the books but my problem as of late has been no focus on story lines. I mean they start a story line and take 6 episodes to get back to it. I understand that this is a very large world but for me I think that's why there seems to be so much filler or methodical pacing.

I would much rather they focus on fewer plot lines, finish that up and focus on the next plot line. The show jumps around so much that often I find myself getting bored of that particular plot because it took 5 episodes to move it along because a different plot was getting complete focus.

I would much rather see the entire season get divided to focus on specific arcs with tie ins to keep it all tightly constructed.

Man, they are absolutely flubbing the Sansa story line. In a terrible, boring, non-compelling way. Ugh.

The Sand Snakes crap has been pathetic too.

Otherwise I'm liking it. I think the show's quality is on the downhill side, yes, but that's because of the source material. Storm of Swords was the absolute peak. I hope it regains traction in Winds of Winter and Dream of Spring. We'll see.

At the end of last season I thought Sansa had grown up and realized she needed to be one step ahead of everyone's thinking, or would end up a perpetual victim. Saw her arch going in the direction of being a Baelish accomplice. Instead, they wrote her character as if last season's finale never happened. Even the dress tearing was just a recycled scene. Sansa's story is and has been a complete waste of the viewer's time.

A battle of Sand Snakes vs. Bronn and Jamie should have been epic. This could have been a 5 minute, well choreographed fight with turns, surprises, enjoyable cinematography, etc. Instead we got what looked like a bunch of LARPer nerds in front of the 2nd unit director and crew.

I did enjoy the Baelish scene. Made me wonder if his proposal for the North was his plan all along, as revenge against the Starks for taking Catelyn from him. Just imagined him taking years to move all the chess pieces around until he could finally say, "Checkmate'.
