So I get the women in the tower of joy is Jon snows mom, but who is she, a targaryen? The daughter of the guy Ned starks killed?

She is without a doubt the highest profile actor that didn't get a raise for next season, not including the kids.

Most everyone is expecting Cersei to die, but she is one of the 5, so she probably will not. Maisie Williams (Arya) and Sophie Turner (Sansa) are young, so they aren't included either. And neither one of them will almost certainly NOT die. Natalie Dormer, however, is starting to get a higher profile in movies, so she has opportunities outside of Game of Thrones that others might not have.

You called it Chap...Queen Tyrell was killed off in a HUGE way....

Just a personal opinion, but why not ditch the spoiler tags in this thread? CLEARLY anyone who hasn't seen the finale shouldn't be reading the latest posts here.

I finally caved about a month ago and started watching GoT. Really sped things up last weekend and did all of season 6 on Sunday before the Battle of the Bastards. Legitimately felt like I was going through withdrawals for a few days after. Now I have to wait an entire, what, 9 or 10 months? :help:

Guess it's time to start reading the books.

that episode was so good, it actually even retconned Arya's awful storyline into a winner by episode's end.

Hell, it even made Dorne relevant going forward! What is interesting about the upcoming seasons is that there seem to be three main factions, but they aren't composed of entire houses anymore. Kin take up different sides.

1. North: Starks, Mormonts, Wildlings, the Vale (Littlefinger), and I'd assume the Brotherhood Without Borders would fight with them if they have to choose a side (The Hound)
2. South: Lannisters, the Mountain, and...(Actually, Cerci is screwed)
3. Coming Home: Dani's Hoard, Tyrion, Varys, Ser Jorah Mormont, Dorne, Tyrells, Greyjoy Fleet

4. Independent Players for now: The other Greyjoy Fleet

So you have the last of the Targaryans on potentially opposing sides. You have 2 Lannisters vs their sibling. You have a disgraced Mormont potentially returning against his own house. You have the Greyjoy Children opposing their Uncle. And it keeps the Cleganebowl alive. Literally the only 2 major houses that are not fractured (or nearly extinct) are the Starks and ladies of Dorne.

Also, all 4 surviving Stark Children are within an reach of meeting up at Winterfell, especially considering how characters seem to magically be able to defy travel delays by warping through time and space.

It is never been stated firmly that ALL the events are happening at the same time.

Arya's travel could have taken awhile, but still fit in the timeline.

We get pissy when they bog down in the details of the traveling, and get pissy when they don't show it.

Agreed. This was BY FAR the best episode in a season bereft of good episodes, and definitely the best 10th episode. I agree about the point catching you off guard--it got me as well. What if that hadn't happened? Would she have...? Hmm. Yeah, the timeline issues were off-the-charts bad, but at least the episode was good so I was able to push that out of mind whenever it popped up. They also kind of fizzled with the whisper we couldn't hear, but redeemed it by being absolutely clear as to the subject matter of it.

I called that Cersei was going to try to blow up KL, but I thought Jaime was going to come back to stop her. Yeah, wow, that was an explosive scene lol

At first I was wondering about the entire timeline speed up thing as well. However, with an abbreviated seasons coming the next couple years, I think it was completely necessary. I am just curious how they will cover the content. Will next Season be filling in the gaps they didn't know about as Martin finishes Winds of Winter? Will a shortened season 8 be enough to cover Dreams of Spring? Will Martin even have enough written by then? I seriously doubt it.

To be honest a little worried about where the content is going to come from. I wonder if Martin will be heavily involved at least in Season 8 to make sure they get his ideas generally outlined for the last book. It's going to be crazy. It's just sad that the last two seasons are rumored to be short because as it is....GOT seems to fly by with the episodes they do now.

Also, I think Tommen's death is going to be the wedge between Cersei and Jamie. His death is 100% on Cersei's head. Her ambition and thirst for blood drove him to jump. By the way, I loved how they framed that scene in the episode. You get a view of the window, Tommen exists the scene...then bam...back in and a jump. HOLY @#$@#$.

At any rate, Jamie has been on this redemption arc and now because of Cersei, the children are all gone. The look between the two of them at the end I think is just a sign of what is to come.

What about the fact that she likely came back to Westeros via King's Landing, yet she totally bypassed Cerci in order to cross Frey off her list? She traveled over the Sea and half a continent for revenge, but now she'll have to double back to pick off a target now under substantially more security now that she is Queen.

If Jamie rejects her, where does he go? Not to Dany. He killed her dad and her allies killed his daughter. Could he go North to reconnect with Brienne? One Lannister in each camp?

They finally brought in Dorne and actually didn't make it terrible. I liked it, and got a modified "Fire and Blood" speech to boot.

As to the spoiler:
I think the Lannisters are completely screwed and about to get creamed. I don't think the North is going to be involved in who rules KL. They'll want to remain independent, and if Danny takes the Iron Throne, she may grant them that right, like she promised to Asha Greyjoy. Danny has to forge alliances and will do so through marriage, which she already stated. Who's out there that she can and would marry to create the best alliance? Jon? Littlefinger? I don't know, but I don't see her fighting against Jon and the North, but rather with them against the Night King and the WWs after she takes the Iron Throne.

No, that travel part wasn't too bad. It's a certain baldie's movements that were so impossible as to make the show into a portal fantasy lol

To much going on in Kings landing. She didn't know the events that would unfold and the high sparrows people where everywhere. Plus to me, with what happened at the Red Wedding, that would have been like saying target 1a/1b when choosing. Now factor in Frey was an easier target.

I wouldn't be worried. The show is so vastly different from the books, they shouldn't have any problem coming up with their own material. Now, I'm in the camp that thinks they haven't done well in this, but it hasn't been a problem for you and others, so it shouldn't be a problem for you going forward. As long as they know where it ends--and I'm sure Georgie Boy knows where it's going--they should be able to work their way there.

The timeline thing's just been lazy. I can understand certain ones, but the ONLY reason they put baldie on the ship at the end was for dramatic effect, and it was super silly and dumb. Thankfully the rest of the episode really, REALLY made up for it.

She didn't need to go through King's Landing. When she got on a boat to Braavos, it wasn't at KL, so we can't assume the boat from Braavos to Westeros goes throught that port.

How could he not after the redemption journey he has been on? To turn his back on what happened to Tommen and it being all on Cersei's head? You bring up a good point and reconnecting with Brienne seems logical. I just don't see how Jamie could get over what Cersei did.

Also, on top of that, wasn't it Jamie that called out the Mad King for wanting to blow everyone up? Cersei just did the very thing that Jamie lamented him about and it cost them their son in the process. Cersei has no humaity left now and Jamie is discovering his. When Cersei goes, I would LOVE it if it's Jamie that does her in.

They attempted to explain Varys on the ships by showing the Sunspear logo on many of the sails--he already has joined Dorne with Dany's fleet. I think you are too restrictive in your timelines--You are automatically assuming that the timelines all match up in a single episode, when they most certainly do not.

I absolutely cannot wait to see what happens with Jamie. He certainly did not look happy when Cersei got the crown. And the whole Brienne thing is infinitely more interesting than anything he can do in King's Landing.

If you look at the map of Westeros and Essos, Braavos (where Arya was) is closer to Riverrun than to King's Landing

You must be registered for see images attach

A bigger question might be how did the Knights of the Vale get to Winterfell so quickly?

I haven't seen anything about it, but I always thought this season was basically Jaime reluctantly doing everything. I almost felt he didn't want the Blackfish to surrender and certainly didn't want the Freys to succeed. Maybe it was just the look on his face, but he never seemed into it. That can either be lazy acting or very good acting. :D

Attempted to explain is right, because it was so hamfisted. I'm not assuming the timelines match up, as it is impossible to do that, but geeze, they need to at least make an effort. I'm not being facetious when I say it's starting to feel like portal fantasy.

No kidding! That was a good setup and, perhaps, sets the course for a certain prophecy to be fulfilled.

Also Benjin absolutely foreshadows the Wall is going to come down.

Speaking of the wall. I know the earlier explanation of the Knights Watch and their purpose including the wall.

However, after this episodes and listening to Benjen Stark and him explaining the wardings built into the wall that changes the view and purpose of the wall all together. So how did Benjen know about the original construction but everyone else on the Knights Watch seems to have forgotten? Did he try and cross the wall after what happened to him? They kind of glossed over that part but it appears the Knights Watch and the wall were never just about separating the two areas. Maybe that knowledge was just lost over time.
