So.... could the least impactful scene of the first episode end up being the most important to the overall story arc?

The "three eyed raven" just crossed the Wall. Is he supposed to do that? Is doing that somehow affecting the spells that keep others from doing so as well?

Good point - especially since the Night King touched him.

The Bran stuff seemed like a throw-in, but could have lasting implications.

No, it's not impossible. If I didn't have 3 teenage (one about to be 20) daughters, I would have no clue who Ed Sheeran is as well. And I have listened to many of his songs, went to a concert even, and I think he is far from "great". He can barely play guitar and his voice is so limited he has to use gimmicks to sound cool.

So, you have heard of him.

And, thanks for the definitive answer on the completely subjective topic of musical greatness.

I hope your day improves. :hulk:

I had no idea who ed sheeran is...so seeing the scene as a "virgin"...it was a good scene...so I don't think having a known celeb hurt it at all....it was cool to see Arya recognize the humanity of soldiers....

IMO they wasted lots of time in the premier... Both Lannister scenes were a waste of screen time.... why show the map scene, and have that discussion, if you aint going to have an army waiting at dragon stone??
why bother with meeting euron Greyjoy only to refuse his offer...when you already knew what he wanted?....do have to admit though, him suggesting to cersei that she should try killing her brother some time was a funny scene..
they could have accomplished that stuff by showing euron having a conversation on his boat about queens needing special gifts, and led that straight into him attacking dany's fleet before they landed at dragon stone..
the sam montage was awesome...quickly could not tell the difference between the food and the bedpans... interesting how somehow,...when women and children are not allowed..it appears sam and gilly are living together happily.
They run the "girl power" game pretty strong...and little Lyanna Mormant appears to be the strongest of them, lol...would anyone be surprised to see this end with her on the iron throne?

People just want to bitch. There was nothing wrong with the scene. There will be cameos coming from what I read.

Pretty much. From what I understand, it was many of his own fans bitching, too. Why? I mean, if there wasn't such a hullabaloo, I would have never heard of the guy and wouldn't have realized he was anybody.

The only reason they cast him is because Maisie (Arya) was a big fan and asked. Much ado about nothing IMO. The guy closed his twitter account because of it!

Yeah the Ed Shereen thing was blown way out of proportion. He didn't ruin the show or anything

I'm pleasantly surprised by how well they've established Euron Greyjoy as a threat. I thought they may lack in the villain/bad guy department down the stretch but he's stepped up nicely.

Euron's entrance this episode has to be the greatest entrance of any character in the series, even better than Stannis' smoke monster baby in Season 2. That battle was great. It was somewhat obvious something would happen but I didn't expect to see as much as we did. I thought they'd show the attack with a quick getaway, or something smaller in scale, not a 15 battle that rivaled the Battle of Blackwater Bay. I know it didn't last as long as the Blackwater siege but this wasn't a land and sea assault either. It was a nice surprise to see something that big so early in the season. I'd rank it up there with any other large battle that's been shown so far, except the Snow Bowl/Battle of the Bastards.

With only 7 episodes this year they don't have time to stretch things out like they have in the past. They've really jumped right into the thick of it across Westeros though. Episode 1 showed where everyone was and now all of the pieces are in motion. It sucks that we're basically halfway through a normal season though, with just 5 episodes left. This offseason is going to be rough, hopefully Winds of Winter is released before the year is up and/or they return for the final season next April, which is when they've started every other season.
