There's a stupid theory out there that LSH actually appears in the episode where Arya fights Brienne in the courtyard--an extra who looks like Catelyn walks by in the background.

Probably cast on purpose to generate some articles :)

For me, Coldhands will never be Benjen Stark, and there may still be a compelling story behind Benjen Stark's fate in the books. Unfortunately for GRRM, the legacy of GoT will definitely be the show. It mostly would have been anyway, due to the show watchers greatly outnumbering the book lovers, but he has made it way, WAY worse.

What do you mean he has made it worse, George has made it worse because he hasn't finished the books or the writers of GoT?

George made it worse on himself by not even getting another book out, let alone finishing, before the TV show rapidly outpaced him. No one to blame but himself.

Edit: I just looked it up. The show premiered April 2011, and A Dance with Dragons was released in July of the same year. Seven full seasons of the show, at least a year apart for each of them, and GRRM hasn't even gotten one book out. Yeah, no one to blame but himself.

I wouldn't say the show rapidly outpaced him. Martin is a slow writer, he's had 7 years to write Winds of Winter but failed to do so. They were still using elements from the book last season, so I guess you could say he had 5-6 years to get another book out. No one to blame except Martin in that regard but early on I don't think anyone expected the show to be as big as it's been. It's the most popular show in HBO history now and has been for the last 3 seasons or so.

We don't agree on a lot of things when it comes to this show, but I'm with you on this one.

I agree... good thing the dude got paid. I am an avid reader but it is likely that I never read any more books in this series. It has been too long,..and I generally like to go back and re read a series when the new books come out so everything is fresh in my mind..... these books are not an easy read... I tried to restart the series last year and could not even make it half way through book one... Martin has done went and pulled a Jordan,..the only thing he hasn't done yet is died...sellouts,...I hate sellouts

I understand, man. It's a big ask for someone to re-read a series like this. I was going to do that with the Wheel of Time books when the final one came out, but couldn't make myself do it.

The weird thing is, the GoT books are an incredibly easy read for me. I got through them, several times, faster than I would a series of 250 page books. It's just that they're right in my wheel house, I guess.

it may be because I have already read the first few books three or four times and then watched the series several times as well.
I read WoT probably a dozen times...each time with endless frustration that Jordan was writing a conan book,..or telling stories that happened away from the WoT characters.
when I read the first book my wife was pregnant with my first son.... he was 23 when I finally read Sandersons finale on the series.. that is freaking ridiculous.
due to Jordan and then martin....I have since instituted a policy of never starting a new series until I can buy it complete at the same time.

Yeah, I have a few friends that have instituted the same policy. I fully understand it, but I can't, I just can't. Too many great series out there for me, that aren't anywhere near finished yet.

I make exceptions... Tad Williams...still relatively young, turns out books quickly, and works every day. I know this because I harass him on FB all the time...great guy,...cant talk politics with him,...but on everything else he is quite intelligent, lol

Good call. His Dragonbone Chair trilogy is spectacular.

I also read the WoT finale and actually enjoyed the last 2 books. Heck, the last book is basically entirely the Fianl Battle.

Yeah.... Memory, Sorrow, & Thorn is an excellent read... Tad's best IMO, even though I really enjoyed the Shadowmarch trilogy as well.

IMO Jordan got lost in his own story with WoT... Brandon Sanderson did an excellent job of wrapping it all up without it feeling too rushed

Funny thing is, I loved how Sanderson finished WoT, then couldn't much stand his own Mistborn series. I can understand the attraction for people that love 5 straight pages of infodump description, or 1/2 a book of 'we'll learn this cool magical system by frickin' TRAINING someone in it'--some people lap that stuff up--but it wasn't my cuppa.

Well, for a change we're on the same page. I agree 100% with what you're saying here.

We do agree more often than one might think, Chap. Often if I see something I agree with but don't have anything to add, I'll just move on. I haven't taken to the like button on here, forgetting about it all the time. I usually have more to say when I disagree. That's all :D
