IMO, Kendall is the center. Has been even before Garcia was suspended. My guess for clearing roster space is that one of the injured WR's goes on IR.

I'm not totally sure on this, but I believe that Garcia still took up a roster spot even though he was suspended, so in that respect there won't be any changes that have to be made roster-wise.

I would expect that Kendell and Rogers will remain as starters and Garcia maybe only used in rotation.

Garcia does not take up a roster spot.

We will have to make a roster change to add him back.
I could see Rogers being waived. The question with either
Wells or Rogers is whether Wragge gets waived from the practice
squad to make room or not.

Roundtree is going to be put on IR. The line is playing good, so Roundtree will be told to take the season off.

And with him back, does Pete Kendall play guard or center?

Pete Kendall will be a center until the day he retires. According to Coach Mac, he wouldn't trade Pete for any other center.

Unless there is a big surprise, Roundtree should be back soon.

I just talked to Roundtree on Wednesday and he told me that he is shooting for the bye week to return to practice. He is getting his weight up and working out with Strength and Conditioning Coaches Bob Rogucki and Rayn Capretta.

It will be great to see him get back out there.

Spikes was the starter before Garcia was suspended. Garcia will return as a backup and the Cards will be forced to cut someone. From what I have heard, Kendrick Rogers and Jason Starkey should be worried.

Not necessarily. Pete Kendall is playing at a high level right now and he just started to play the position. The coaches are beyond happy.

Pete is arguably the smartest football player on the team.

That may be so but still has no bearing on wether or not he signs hear at the conclusion of his current contract.

Hes made it evident that he will go after the money first which he fully admitted he did when he came here.

So if a nother team offers the cash and they want a guard. He will probably jump on it.

I thought that you were inferring that Pete could not play center for another team. I see what you are saying now. I have a feeling that if another team wanted to sign Pete at some point, it would be at center. According to the coaches, he is one of the best centers in the league.

If all goes well, he will be a Cardinal for a long time. His contract isn't up yet, but I hear rumblings that some extensions may be coming soon for select players. Stay tuned in the next few weeks.

I heard a quote from him saying the move to center could extend his career by 5 years.

That's the reason he wanted to go for it.

That is good news indeed. Now, would he become our starting guard in place of Spikes? Of course, if Davis is still out, I'd assume both he and Spikes would stay at guard.

from what I have seen, pete has looked pretty good so far this season in both run and pass blocking.

also, he's been called for very few penalties, and, even better, I don't believe there has been one bobbled qb-center exchange so far this year. This was a great move by the cards to switch him to center for all parties involved.

From the time that he arrived here, I think he has been a good influence in the locker room and on the field, and I really, really, hope he finishes his carrer about five years from now, as a cardinal.

Speculation from Jurecki and EVT is that the two linemen most vulnerable to being cut when Garcia returns - are Jason Starkey and Kendrick Rogers.

Since Garcia (a C-G) and Starkey (G-C) play the same positions, Starkey would seem to be more vulnerable than Rogers.

Rogers is a RT. The only other backup tackle on our roster is Reggie Wells who worked out at LT all preseason. Wells has been practicing at RT this past week or so. How well Wells acclimates himself to the RT position might have a major bearing on whether the highly regarded Rogers stays or whether he possibly heads toward the practice squad. (Note - Rogers was playing RT during those long runs off RT by Anderon and Prentice).
