I know many of us our avid fans of theirs... but lord... nothing like their earlier material they generated with Gabriel on vocals and Hackett on guitar..... I prefer that era over when Genesis reduced down to a trio and mainly lavished themselves in Phil Collins ballads (but some of that music wasnt all too bad)....

Just watch these clips and you would be amazed:

Here's a 1973 concert:

That is pretty much them at the height/peak of their creavity... Just stunning to watch and listen to.....

A mini-biography:

I wish the original line-up would go on tour again... it would be one of those instances in which money absolutely wouldnt be an object... would be BRILLIANT.....

I've never been able to get into the peter gabriel stuff, or even pre-Trick of the Tail-days. But, from "Trick" on, I'm a huge fan.

Don't know what my problem is with the earlier stuff.

Perhaps it's too theatrical for your tastes... dont know.... I guess it's something that if you listen to long enough.. it will gradually grow on you...

I dont want people to gather the impression that I dont enjoy their material from "Trick of the Tail " onward (my favorite being "Abacab")... I just enjoy how "out there" Gabriel was willing to go....Obviously it's a matter of taste..and everyone is of course entitled to their own.....

That's what I've heard. I just don't have any patience for anything these days.

I know what you mean...:D

Seriously though.. this is one of those rare instances in which patience will prove to be a virtue since it's extremely worthwhile in listening to Genesis' earlier material...... It's just amazing on how each of their songs would depict some sort of a tale w/such riveting effects...... I'm certain that youd love it just as their later albums.. .even will exceed it.....
