I wonder if the Seahawks draft Richardson to sit behind Geno if he's available? I know there's a lot of hype for teams to move up for Richardson but he really doesn't look close to being ready to start.

Both he and Derek Carr got paid. Geno was very good last year and certainly deserved it, but curious to see if the success continues this year.

Saints just paid a ton for someone who won't be much better than Andy Dalton.
Derek Carr is a better than average QB.

He's definitely better than Dalton, but you can't rely on him to carry a team.

Good. I can’t help but think Geno is a flash in the pan. He had a good year (he was on my fantasy team) but I think he will come back down to earth next year.

Geno played his tail off but he’s still dumb and a hothead IMO. If they can build the line enough to keep a RB healthy and the D re-emerges, watch out.

No...it would waste years of cost control.
I mean the idea is to get a project QB with high potential who is going to suck for two or three years and develop him. Those cost control years are already wasted no matter what. If he develops into a good QB he will be worth the second contract.

Good QBs don't become worthless after their first contract.

QBs need to play. Richardson won't get too much better sitting on the bench.

And besides, there are some really good QBs coming out as soon as next year. Drake Maye is likely to test through the roof. Kid is big, strong, and runs like a deer....and is a really good passer.

Disagree a bit here. One of Richardson's big issues are his mechanics and that is 100% something he can work on sitting on the bench.

The more and more inexperienced these QBs come to the NFL, the more they will benefit from a little time to learn.

Josh Allen really benefited from game reps.

Plus, Richardson has only really started one season.

I thought Seattle was a trade up candidate. They clearly aren't anymore.

Not according to radio up here. They said the Geno's deal can be done after 1 year, which is why it's so front loaded.
I could see them drafting a QB with whomever falls. I don't see them moving up anymore. It could happen though, I suppose.

Disagree. They have a ton of picks from the Russ trade, and if they liked one QB over the rest, it would not be cost prohibitive for them to move up to get the one they want. If I am Seattle and I like Stroud or Richardson, I would 100% move up to #1 and then just let them learn a year behind Geno like Mahomes did behind Alex Smith.

Both Stroud and Richardson will benefit from more games played but there is no need to rush them. Hell, Kyler could have used some time refining his mechanics and learning pro-style defenses prior to starting. Just because some guys can figure it out when you throw them in the deep end doesn't mean you should do it just to do it.

Time will tell. I just don't see it.

They also have a 90 year old coach who likely wants to make another push before he retires.
if he can rebuild the Lynch + Legion of Boom dynamic he had when Russ was young, he probably feels he can make that push with Geno Smith.
