I have no idea why he is even considered to return punts in the NFL.
If Roberts is hurt, who would you suggest? We know Whiz isn't going to put Breaston there.

No idea why he made the team. I guess fans tend to identify with small, talentless white guys.

Yeah, we have to stop letting fans make these picks. Those danged fans, they wouldn't know a football player if it came up and bit them. It's the same reason we're stuck watching Matt Leinart out there every Sunday.

Disagree. I think Breaston is back returning before too long. Whis has not taken that off the table.

4 years of stats, 147 receptions and 113 punt returns and 0 fumbles.

Stevie B is outstanding at securing the ball. I don't ever recall him fumbling and know you have confirmed this. Let's have him coach up Beanie and THT.

Due to Early's groin and Fitz's knee I doubt we see Stevie back returning punts until they heal up. By that time Andre or Max will have their act together.

Stevie B rarely has a YAC. That is the key to his ball holding skills.

Gotta disagree, I think. If by "has a YAC" that you are saying he goes down on first contact and therefore doesn't have as much opportunity to fumble then I do disagree. If you mean something else then you will have to explain it better.

Stevie makes tough catches in traffic and holds onto the ball. He is a punt returner who almost never calls for a fair catch so he takes big time hits all the time.

The next time he fumbles will be his first time.

I recall Breaston fumbling last year.

True I was thinking about receiving as a wr not a punt returner. Typically when he catches as a receiver he has to dive or is as u say catching in traffic and being nailed after a reception.

But as far as punt returning I agree stellar ball control.

The prior 2 years stats for Fitz, Q and Stevie:

Receptions - Yards - YAC - Avg YAC per reception - Fumbles

Fitz 193 2523 731 3.78 1
Q 173 2062 926 5.35 6
Stevie 132 1718 408 3.09 0

I think most of us would have guessed that Q would be the leader in YAC. This does support your theory that the more YAC you have the more likely to fumble.

I just don't put Stevie in the Randy Moss category of running out of bounds or laying down to avoid a hit.

Oh great, now he's screwed! :stick::stick::stick:

j/k :D

I think I got rid of the jinx thingy with Stevie a year ago.

Friend from out of town visiting and we were watching the Cards. He made some comment about hoping the Cards didn't fumble the punt and I said Stevie NEVER fumbles. He breaks out the jinx card but to no avail.

I dont think he does either. Just seems when he catches the ball he is either laid out or diving to make the catch etc. Doesnt get much YAC.

He is going to cost us one.

I was surprised when Coach Whiz put him right back in there after a fumble. What does he do? Makes a big catch and run. He is scary but our coach must see something in him. I guess you do not give up on a player after one game. Coach sees him every day.

i'm sorry, i vote cut the kid. i'm sure he's a nice story, but you just CANNOT lay the ball on the carpet. THREE times. and then we have to hear his excuse about it being his first game and he wasn't prepared for the speed/power?!? once that happens i can deal with the excuse. twice? no way. three times? you're gone. his upside isn't that great that we need to take up a valuable roster space hoping for any potential. get him outta here.

If we weren't all of a sudden paper thin at WR I'd agree with you. I think he stays on the roster till Doucet returns and Robert shows he was worth drafting.
