Bump over Brian's CRAP!
My dad's brother in law has a daughter who is married to one of the screenwriters on GI Joe.
That's definitely not true. It's a very good movie, unless you grew up with the show. Then I know, since I went to the movie and discussed it afterward with a film major and GI Joe fan, there's plenty to complain about when comparing to the cartoon. For what it is, an action movie based on children's toys, it's pretty damn good. It's the type of film, which even better than Transformers, captures what you'd imagine the world would be like when you were a child playing with the action figures. The film-making does seem sloppy in certain parts, but to say it's as bad as can be makes no sense to me.
I think I'll be going to see it agian tomorrow night because some friends are going...and it looks like I may win the first bet I made on here.
I got hosed. The official receipts total was $ 54.7 million.

LOS ANGELES – "G.I. Joe" has claimed the box-office spoils of war with a $54.7 million opening weekend for the action flick based on the Hasbro toys. Meryl Streep baked up a hit with the Julia Child tale "Julie & Julia."
The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Hollywood.com:
1. "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra," Paramount, $54,713,046, 4,007 locations, $13,654 average, $54,713,046, one week.
How did you get hosed? Shane does not declare a winner until offical numbers are out.
The bet has already been settled based upon unofficial weekend studio estimates which were $ 56.2 million when the official figures were $ 54.7 million as announced today. I got hosed because I wagered on the $ 45-55 million category.
It has not been settled yet. If would say settled instead of over.
This incorrect settlement will be resolved upon settlement of the Diamondbacks game with the Mets.
Shane is in Hawaii, I believe. I think he'll take care of it when he gets back...or can't you, BIM, as a mod, fix it?WTH happened with this bet? Looks like it's settled, but it didn't pay out...
I got hosed. The official receipts total was $ 54.7 million.
