Just keep swinging. Just keep swinging.

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen is making good on his promise to take as many hacks as needed to get quarterback right, and those familiar with the team's plans - even after agreeing to terms with Jameis Winston and then Russell Wilson on Tuesday night - believes they are not done at the position.

The Giants have made their second significant move in the execution of that said plan, agreeing to terms with the 36-year-old Wilson on a one-year deal worth $10,5 guaranteed and a max value of $21 million, an individual with knowledge of the situation told NorthJersey.com and The Record.

That comes just days after the Giants agreed to terms with Winston on a two-year deal worth $8 million.

Winston's deal, according to a source, is valued at $4M per year plus incentives based on playing time and production similar to contracts the Giants have given to their backups the past two years [Tyrod Taylor and Drew Lock].

If Winston maxes out both years based on those incentives, he could essentially double that $4 million per season, which would bring the total to around $16M, which is available but unlikely.

NY Giants QB depth chart

The Giants will almost certainly draft a quarterback of the future, and if either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward is their pick in the Top 3, he would challenge Winston for the starting job.

The Giants went into the offseason knowing they needed to upgrade the position, and there is still work to be done. The more options added to the Giants' roster heading into the draft could create more opportunities at the position.

Here is a look at how the depth chart currently stacks up:

  • Russell Wilson: The 36-year-old showed flashes of his old self with a solid two months of play for the Steelers last season, including an upset of the Ravens. But his play tailed off down the stretch, leading to questions as to whether the Steelers would re-up with the future Hall of Famer. He completed 63.7 percent of his passes with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions, and Wilson should get the first chance to win the starting job.
  • Jameis Winston: The 31-year-old brings entertaining play to the Meadowlands, and it should be interesting to see how Daboll tries to use his aggressive nature to the Giants' advantage in this offense. At the very least, Winston is a proven backup with a chance to be an experienced bridge starter if Wilson falters and a rookie comes on board next month. The one thing I kept hearing over the past two weeks is that Winston was a better fit than Rodgers and Wilson if you were looking for a veteran bridge QB to work well with a rookie quarterback. That was even before the Giants brought Winston in for a visit. Now Schoen has doubled up with Wilson and Winston, leaving the door open for a rookie to come in and learn at his own pace.
  • Tommy DeVito: The 26-year-old local legend from New Jersey signed his exclusive rights free agent tender to return to the Giants for a non-guaranteed, 1-year, $1 million contract. He knows the offense, so that's an edge that the former Don Bosco star has over anyone who comes into the QB room. Where DeVito fits, either as a third QB on the active roster, on the practice squad or elsewhere, will be determined over the course of the offseason and later this summer.

What's next for Giants at QB

Those within the Giants' organization told NorthJersey.com and The Record on Tuesday that drafting a rookie quarterback with the No. 3 overall selection remains a strong possibility even with the addition of Wilson. League sources believe the Tennessee Titans are eyeing Cam Ward at No. 1, even though the Giants are still interested in making a deal to move up if one presents itself.

Shedeur Sanders would likely be the next quarterback up for the Giants if Ward goes off the board. Wilson and Winston provide Schoen flexibility if Sanders goes to Cleveland and the Browns at No. 2. They could then pivot to take the best non-QB on the board - either CB/WR Travis Hunter or LB Abdul Carter - and make a play for another QB either with a trade-up later in the first round or early in the second round with their No. 34 overall selection.

In speaking with some familiar with the Giants' pre-draft plans, both inside and outside the organization, here are a couple tidbits that are important in that search:

  • The draft-eligible QBs will come to the facility for "30" visits separately between now and April 16. There won't be a setup of sorts the way they did the top WRs - Malik Nabers, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Rome Odunze - on same day last year.
  • The process is still the process. Pro Days, private workouts and "30" visits with the QBs in particular will all take place before a final NYG consensus is taken by team brass. So what you hear before that is part reporting, part guess work - some educated, some speculation that goes on all the time during draft season.
