I think they did some reunion shows, and it made them realize they could get back together.

Pretty cool.

I know, I can't believe they didn't make AZ one of the stops.

I loved this band back in the day.... They did attract a lot of interest on the Detroit airwaves back then..... I really endeared myself to the song "Allison Road"..... I even preferred that track over both "Hey Jealousy" and "Until I Fall Away".... Obviously, I cannot forget "Found Out About You".....

Thanks for posting about them Mike.... I had actually forgotten about them, but whenever they are brought-up, it brings back so many fond memories of them... Just unfortunate they never have come close to the height of their debut album, but not too many bands in recent memory can boast such a wonderful array of songs on one album.....

KLL, Allison Road is my favorite Gin Blossoms song, in fact, I have it on my "Now Listening" playlist on my iPod, which is basically all the top songs I like...current, and a few oldies.

Still sounds great to me.

Not the same band without Doug Hopkins.

He wrote all their good songs then they kicked him out of the band.

That's because Hopkins wrote all the good songs. Once they used up all his material they sucked.

And then he killed himself. They'll never be the same without him. I loved the Gin Blossoms.

They kicked him out with good reason, btw. As I understand it, it was a heartbreaking decision.

And then when he was really down and out they offered him $10,000 dollars for all his songs and he took it because he didn't have a cent. That's why he killed himself. He sold his soul.

I know why they threw him out but they knew he was a MAJOR alcoholic when they signed on. They rode his songs to the top and then turned their backs. It was his band, he wrote the songs, he basically hired all the others with the exception of Bill who he taught how to play the bass.

I didn't have a problem with them turning their backs on Doug but it was wrong to steal his songs and go out selling them like they were theirs.
