If Keim is so enamored with Stanton, why did he bring Barkley back?
he brought barkley back to back up gabbert in the event that stanton was not gonna play.If Keim is so enamored with Stanton, why did he bring Barkley back?
I have to agree with him that stanton could not have played much better...because that is about as good as stanton ever gets.Keim said today on Doug and Wolf that Stanton could start versus the Texans despite his knee injury and that Stanton "couldn't have played much better" versus the Seahawks, that it was the WRs who let the team down.
Just when I was defending Keim's roster building this week, he says obtuse things like this. Any time a QB is erratic throwing the ball it can have a significant effect the WRs' timing and confidence. They don't know if the pass is going to sail (see Gresham), be thrown a little behind them (see John and Jaron Brown), come at them quickly and wobbly (see J.J. Nelson) or miss them completely when they are wide open (see NBC clip of 4 wide open missed passes, 3 of which were on 3rd downs). Good thing for Stanton that Larry Fitzgerald can catch passes thrust from a juggs machine into hurricane type winds, otherwise Stanton's completion rate would have been in the low 40s, just as it was last year.
This makes me want to rethink my position on Keim. Maybe he is part of the biggest problems after all.
Keim is a relatively new GM. its diff when you are the final authority.
I think he has too many picks where he over valued size / athleticism and under valued experience and productivity-- think of it as reaching for upside at a given spot in the draft
The list of his underwhelming draft picks all tend to have this in common:
Ideal triangle numbers, great athleticism but questions on productivity and/or experience.
Niklas, Brandon Williams, Humphries, Chad Williams, Reddick, Nkemdiche
I think some will work: Humphries needs to stay healthy. Reddick will be fine at some point..... but too many misses
I have to agree with him that stanton could not have played much better...because that is about as good as stanton ever gets.
the wr did let him down a bit,...but we dont know if that is because he spins it differently than carson or what.... but none of that changes the fact that he missed guys wide open...a couple of which were sure TD's if the catch was made.
like I mentioned before,...on the deep passes, stanton just chucks it as hard as he can and hopes the WR can catch up to it, lol...hurts his completions but keeps his int's down
but Keim was right...drew cant play any better than he did....although it crosses my mind that saying so to the media was just him parroting BA,...because it sounds more like a BA statement than an SK statement.
Has a C considering the importance of first round picks and the impact they should haveKeim's Report Card for me
QB - C, got Palmer, no long term answer
LT - C, got Veldheer, Humphries has proven nothing
Pass Rusher - B, drafted Golden and traded for Jones. Let Campbell go, Nkemdiche is meh
First Round Picks - D, bad.
Mid Round Picks - A, really good.
FAs - C. Mixed bag.
Re-signing Players - C+. A lot of turnover, but most keys guys kept.

For some reason I don't think you would be satisfied no matter who the GM, coach, QB, record, etc is.

ARZ can turn this team back into a contender next year, if Keim can't next year he needs to go. PHI showed what a truly great VP of Player Operations and GM can do with a mediocre roster.

The good franchises have a stable front office they don't look for new GM's every 4 years
What you fail to see is that Keim has shown a pattern of making bad judgement with draft picks and failing to replenish the team with talent they have lost in FA the last 2 years. If he can't right the ship then ARZ needs to start looking for someone who can. He needs to have a pretty much flawless draft to compensate for the subpar drafts he's had the last 2 years and needs to use the money they will potentially be saving with the possible departures of Palmer & Fitzgerald to fill out needs they don't fill in the draft. ARZ cannot have a third straight sub .500 season especially since PHI has shown rebuilds don't have to take as long as some believe.Lol we were contenders two seasons ago and now if the turn around isn't next year you want him gone. Wow. By the way how long did philly suck before this great season? Loooooong time. It's amazing what a top 2 pick and QBOTF can do Huh who would of thunk it

and maybe SK has drafted just fine but our coaching staff is ruining the picks... like making a safety a mini linebacker...or taking a college DE and making him play ILB...or publicly humiliating linemen who are struggling a bit to adapt to the pro game....What you fail to see is that Keim has shown a pattern of making bad judgement with draft picks and failing to replenish the team with talent they have lost in FA the last 2 years. Oh I agree that BA is part of the blame. He is trying to convert guys into what he needs instead of coaching to their strengths. There has to be some sort of meet in the middle in lieu of trying to fit square pegs into round holes. This regime has really been in a decline the last two years by taking bold risks that have not panned out like they had hoped.and maybe SK has drafted just fine but our coaching staff is ruining the picks... like making a safety a mini linebacker...or taking a college DE and making him play ILB...or publicly humiliating linemen who are struggling a bit to adapt to the pro game....
Well now guys are aging but let's look at the moves when they happened.
Stealing Palmer and Veldaheer from the Raiders A++++
Solidified the QB and left tackle position turning us into contenders. Do you guys remember what was here before? Exactly
Pass rush A. Trading bust Cooper for Chandler Jones and Drafting Marcus Golden was huge this team led the NFL in sacks last year doesn't get much better than that. Now Golden is hurt that's not SK fault.
Can we please stop with the whole we let CC go. That's a BS argument. He got ridiculously over paid contract by the Jags and hey good for him he earned it but we didn't let him go we would of been foolish to match that.
Drafts have been a mixed bag so far. Mathuie might have been the best safety in all of football when he was healthy the kid was flat out electric but that's not SK fault he got hurt, you can make a legit case for David Johnson being the best running back in all of football again that's not SK fault he got hurt, golden was a double digit sack guy again not SK fault he got hurt, Humphries is actually top 5 rated in terms of run blocking LT and shows a lot of promise but again is it SK fault he keeps getting rolled up on from behind. John Brown was electric then got sick and hasn't been the same.
So we've had some back luck aswell in the draft. It's mixed.
Make no mistake they know the window is closing out with the high priced vets time for the rebuild
I agree. You don't fire Keim, but he has burned up any currency he built over the past few years with where our roster is right now.I’m not ready to fire Keim. Not close, yet. However, my patience will be wearing thin if he doesn’t draft a QB this year.

He averages out to a C student. 74.1% mean to be exact.
You sign a 30+ LT, and that gets you an A. You fail to get one to replace him at 5 years, that is an F. Averages to a C.
Same with QB. Palmer, A move at the time. 5 years later we are desperate for a QB, that is an F. Averages to a C.
Pass rush...traded a 2ND ROUND PICK for Chandler Jones, and ditch the bust he drafted. Added an effort edge guy on the bookend..that is an A. He lost our only interior pass rusher on the defensive line. If you don't plan for it, and have a player to replace him...C. Averages to a B.
You say you can't account for injuries, but when you consistently draft smaller players in a physical NFL football game, they get injured. That is on you. John Brown...small. JJ Nelson...small. Andre Ellington...small. Kerwynn Williams...small. Deone Bucannon...small for a LB. Tyrann Mathieu...small for a S. DJ Humphries...injury pattern in college and injury pattern in NFL. Robert Nkemdiche....injury history in college and injury pattern in NFL. You have a roster of older players, well, older players get nicked up more. Lo and behold, we have a ton of players on IR. At some point in time if you ignore the info you have, it is on you when it occurs again.
I'm not saying all the moves are bad, but it doesn't matter how great the groceries you buy are if you don't have more when they run out. Keim has played the free agent game pretty well, but the shelves are pretty bare now that they are heading out.
have you SEEN Cooper playing in dallas? If this was the case, you would see more productivity in the drafted players who we have let go. None of our linemen have stood out positively anywhere else. Our defensive coaching is bad, but those aren't what is killing the team. I don't like how they have handled Bucannon or Reddick, but if you drafted Reddick to be an edge guy, that was a stupid move. He is way too small.
have you SEEN Cooper playing in dallas?
maybe someone just needs to take the time to coach the Cardinals out of them?? we have been here before.
