I was worried about this, but with Larry and CP off the books, we'll have money to spend. Arguably Iupati gone too.

I fully expect Golden will be locked up long term.

The giants paid both JPP and Vernon. So its doable.

Other than David, is there any mega contracts in the pipeline? Not really. Maybe resign PP. But we are somewhat scant on major talent when you think about it.

Golden is a keeper for sure. When I seen the title of the thread I was thinking of another but a wr.

He had more sacks than our elite pass rusher last year

Exactly, this team was a leader in sacks last season, applying pressure in the backfield... and maybe Golden and Jones should both be considered elite if they can continue their intense production :)

IMO Golden and Jones each produce because of the other...as a tandem they are elite... it is going to cost us to keep that tandem together... add that to the 12-15Mil DJ is gonna get soon and we better find us a QBOF in the draft.... due to what is shaking out in Pittsburgh I fully expect DJ to re-sign for something in the neighborhood of 5 years $75mil with about $45mil guaranteed......or we tag him twice and let him walk.

Golden never stops on a play until the whistle blows. That guy is everywhere and continues to move all around the field.

If smoke is the smoke we know from two years ago, he is a core player along with bucannon, M golden and DJ.

The rest are good players but not core players IMO.

The only "big" contracts I see here are Bucannon, Johnson and Golden. Peters can walk and the rest of them haven't warranted much of anything... even Bucannon is pushing it.

I'm not even going to get into the many reasons you shouldn't pay David Johnson big money...

I understand the philosophy that has been thrown around of use him for his contract and then franchise him once or twice and let him leave but I am not a big fan. If he is going to be the workhorse superstar of the team, we should take care of him. We could sign him today to a 5 year deal and set it up so in years 4 and 5 we could cut him with limited cap ramifications. I think that would be a better way to go about it.

With our luck we do the the former and he goes somewhere else and is a superstar all the way to age 34.
