Nobody has to "get behind the niners" to give them respect. They've earned it, and it's extremely hypocritical to say otherwise with all the kvetching this board does about respect.

Agreed.

"Happy for them" does not equal rooting for them. Why on earth would someone root for them ?

I am rooting for Baltimore, and the Giants, and even that is for the sake of having some interest in the games.

Yet, that being said. I completely respect the hatred towards the Niners. Everything I have read against the Niners is things I do agree with.

Smith had an amazing 4th quarter, I still can't believe how well he played in the 4th.

not to beat a dead horse, but Smith should send 10% of whatever his signing bonus is this offseason to Greg Williams.

horrific defensive calling in the 4th quarter.

Alex Smith has done what has asked of him and most importantly, kept his turnovers down. He occasionally exploits the mismatch that Vernon Davis creates for every team in the league. That defense, though, is amazing. If you can force that many turnovers, you're going to win 99% of the time.

I give credit to Harbaugh for using the talent his team has to it's strengths.

Yep I have no delusions he's a great QB but he's done a great job of not costing them games and he was HUGE Saturday when needed.

Posted this in the Smack Shack, but since only GoHard83 regularly lives in that forum, I thought I would repost...

I will say it, the NFCW OWNS the Saints away from New Orleans.

11/10/10 Saints at Cardinals (Max Hall's Debut) Loss 20-10
01/08/11 Saints at Seahawsk (NFC Playoffs) Loss 41-36
10/30/11 Saints at Rams (A.J. Feely Starting) Loss 31-21
01/14/11 Saints at Niners (NFC Playoffs) Loss 36-32

So basically, in their last 4 trips to the NFCW, the Saints have been whipped up and down by the so-called "worst division in football". Clearly, the NFL darlings are are not a mentally tough team outside their crappy little dome.

So maybe there is hope for Kolb. If Alex Smith can do it...

Just wait 6 or 7 years for all the pieces to come together and pray for no more concussions and there you have it! Cardinals 2018 playoff run here we come!

Could be much sooner! Won't next year be 7 years for Klobby?

How many Cardinals/49ers games have you been to at UOP since we joined the NFCW?

My guess would be zero.

If you attended even one of those games - you would want whoever is playing the 49ers to crush them without mercy.

Rams? Seahawks? Maybe I could see hoping they do well and represent our division in a classy fashion.

49ers? Never. It's like hoping the Cowboys do well.

What the hell? What does seeing a game in person have to do with this at all?

Second, what makes you the oracle about deciding which other teams to cheer for?

His logic for wanting the 49ers to win is logical. Your response to him is not.

He is referring to the esh hoool fans of SF you are exposed to at games.

There are bad fans of every team. We're judging other team's fan bases when when visiting opposing stadiums as to which teams to cheer for when your team is not playing? Seems silly....

Yes I realize that is a mouthful

I was kidding.

But Smith should give more hope for Skelton's development. Smith has always had strong arm and could move around decently, but he made bad reads and was very inaccurate.

That fits Skelton's mold more than Kolb.
