Posting this even though I am firmly in the Skelton should start camp.

Kolbs response to Kelly:
“Scared? Scared of what?” Kolb said. “Taking a hit? I have never been afraid of anyone on the field and that will never change. That includes Number 93 (Kelly). There’s a fine line between holding in the pocket and trying to escape to make a play. Tommy Kelly is too clueless to know the difference. I don’t mind people criticizing my play. Don’t ever question my toughness.”

I understand that he has happy feet. They have actually seemed to get worse as the year progressed last season. IMO the start of it was after the Redskin game last year. When he took two vicious hits like this one:

And there was another one where he was just creamed on a throw to Fitz. He stood tall in the pocket on both occasions. He bounced back up and finished the game. So I dont question his toughness. But I do question him that he has become gun-shy back there. That cant even be denied. Unfortunately for him it probably has ruined his career.

Although with several hits like this last year I cant say I necessarily blame him.

Another center of the back blindside hit from last year:

He exactly should say what he said. He keeps coming back. Might sit out a game or few. He's not quitting because he's scared. But he's not QB'ing like anyone else out there.

Good for him to respond. Though it still imo makes me question why no one has come to his defense. Not officially, and not on twitter (that I know of).

But good for Kolb for standing up and pushing back.

Won't change anything on the field or in CKW decision, but he has to man up like that and defend himself.

I think there is some truth to what Kelly said, but at the same time why does Kelly feel he needs to talk about it as a professional (Kelly sounds like a highschool kid making that comment)? Really, come across like the dude has his own insecurities as well about fear or why would he bring it up and the Raiders would be better served worrying about their own level of toughness.

My thoughts exactly. Kelly comes off like a complete jerk. Glad Kolb responded the way he did and he really had to with all of the press Kelly's comments were getting.

I agree but reverse the situation and I'm pretty sure Dockett would have jumped at the chance to make that same kind of comment about an Oakland QB (Palmer or Leinart). I've never understood the need to talk trash to or about others but we're all a product of the environment we grew up in. This kind of stuff just wasn't done 40 or 50 years ago but it's become almost routine.

I certainly don't know the context of it, but maybe a reporter asked him a very direct question about it and he gave an honest answer. If he sought out reporters to give them those quotes, I'd feel the same exact way as you do.

Whatever.

I don't dislike Kolb, and I certainly don't have ill will for the guy.

My attention to him is only as a Cardinal fan. What has he done for the Cardinals? This is not a guy who has done anything for the team. He hasn't led the team to a better place. I couldn't care less what he says. Good for Kevin? Who cares. I don't. Again, not trying to be a jerk, only speaking as a Cardinal fan, I owe the dude nothing.

can't blame he Kelly He was sack and safety drunk. Lumpkin took it out on Leinart with a Cheap shot.
Jets speared with the top of their helmuts twice without a call? Bad refs or not

Tommy Kelly thinks he found a bigger bust than himself. He should just worry about how he's a bust compared to the deal he signed with the Raiders.

Good for Kolb. He seems to be a good guy, he's just not going to be our QB. I don't fault his effort. It's our FO that blew it.

Concussion, turf toe, bruised ribs, happy feet...

I don't question his toughness, just his durability.

I agree with this.. Sometimes it just aint meant to be..

I have a lot of sympathy in this. My brother was a great baseball player, but his body just didn't hold up after he got drafted. Sometimes the body gives out long before the spirit is willing to call it quits. So I can still cheer for Kolb to bounce back, even tough I think Skelton is giving us the best chance to win right now.

exactly....the way this team tumbles....it would not surprise me to see Skelton get the start......get hurt a few weeks in...and Kolb come in and play lights out.........seems all of our QB's need to be embarrassed and benched a few times before they start to play for real.

either way...Joe the janitor can be the starting QB as long as the team is winning...I dont care, good for Joe...

I commend Kolb's comments and did when he made them earlier today. It had to be said. Still, I'm fairly confident that Kelly knows the reality of the situation more than Kolb does.

And furthermore, it really says something when a few fans have to defend the dude when his own team-mates won't. He's just out there by himself on an island of suckage.
