Airplane - ok
The King of Kong - eh
Superbad - good
40 Year Old Virgin - good
Anchorman - good
Raising Arizona - old but good
Quest for the Holy Grail - ok
The Jerk - eh
Meatballs - eh
Borat - bad
Elf - ok
Animal House - good
Trading Places - eh
Vacation - good
Kentucky Fried Movie - eh
Amazon Women On The Moon - bad
Kingpin - good

Dr. Strangelove - eh
Caddyshack - good
Stir Crazy - ok
Billy Madison - good

Not bad but you do have a little different view of comedies than most people.

see what Donald said. I guess all I can say is that if the above comes from a guy who thought Good Luck Chuck, Chuck and Larry and the trailer for the Comebacks were funny, and you represent the majority of views on comedy, I'm at perfect peace being in the minority.

now, tit for tat - let's see your list of great comedies.

The King of Kong - eh

have you even seen ALL of the movies I listed? I just can't imagine someone who believes themself to have a good sense of humor could possibly say "eh" about some of them. This one just being the greatest example as I don't know a SINGLE-SOUL who didn't absolutely love this movie.

Man, I am sorely disappointed. I come in here to see arguments. All I wanted to do was talk about the bestest movie ever, Good Luck Chuck. Dane Cook is hooptylarious!! Bet he has an itchy butthole!!! Scratch it scratch it!!

I can't believe nobody has commented on this yet...did you all get the reference?

Superbad - great/borderline classic - still need to see it a couple more times.
Wedding Crashers - in the extreme minority here but thought it was EXTREMELY lame - a very weak romantic comedy masquerading as a throw back raunch-fest.
Happy Gilmore - very good
Baseketball - horrendous
40 Year Old Virgin - great/borderline classic
Anchorman - great
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - bad
Vacation - classic
Kingpin - classic
There's Something About Mary - classic
Half Baked - decent stoner movie - grew on me
Caddyshack - classic
Dogma - great 1st 45 minutes, then it fell off the rails
Ghostbusters - classic
Office Space - classic
Meet the Parents - classic
Groundhog Day - very good and ingenius concept
Death to Smootchie - horrendous
American Pie - funny, but not great
Rat Race - guilty pleasure
Friday - very good
Billy Madison - brilliant. the height of stupidly brilliant comedy. Sandler's never come close to the ridiculousness of this movie
Zoolander - decent, but it needed to grow on me
Dodgeball - decent

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - bad

One of the only Jay and SB movies I liked. Yeah, I'm meh on clerks. I just don't care for Kevin Smith. Like that he made clerks on nothing, but it's ok...and I LOVE dialouge movies. Just don't feel him. This one for whatever reason, made me laugh. Weird.

Dogma - great 1st 45 minutes, then it fell off the rails

Only saw about the first half...and I liked what I was seeing. Never wanted to watch the rest though. Again...Kevin Smith. abomb wants to have sex with the guy but I just couldn't care less about him. Kind of a one-trick pony, IMO. abomb and I have a Ouchie-Cheese relationship, without the being brothers and all. I terrorize him about Kevin Smith weekly.

Groundhog Day - very good and ingenius concept

Man, I love this movie. Seeing Ned, Ned RYERSON?? in other roles just makes him a laughable character to me. Hard to take him serious in Heroes. This and Multiplicity are Andie's best movies. I really have a big, big soft spot for Groundhog Day.

When Chris Farley says, "that's correct" in Billy Madison, it killed me. I am laughing right now just thinking about it.

Strangebrew - ultimate drinking movie

didn't take too much time to go way back abomb as I don't remember some of the oldies but sometime I will take the time to make a top 50 list or something. Was just throwing out some of my favorites in reply to cheeses list.

Ok I just watched this and it was good mindless comedy.

Jessica Alba gives this movie reason enough to sit through the whole darned thing Cheese!

I was surprised that I enjoyed the flick too.

I didn't like the casting of the friend though. That guy was way over the top and seemed to yell out almost every line.

Though he did have the funniest line of the show. "If I marry her, we're going to hunt you down and eat you."

in no particular order:

Blazing Saddles
Rushmore
Airplane
The King of Kong
Superbad
40 Year Old Virgin
Anchorman
Raising Arizona
Quest for the Holy Grail
The Jerk
Meatballs
Borat
Elf
Animal House
Trading Places
Vacation
Kentucky Fried Movie
Amazon Women On The Moon
Kingpin
There's Something About Mary
Dr. Strangelove
Caddyshack
Stir Crazy
Billy Madison
Almost anything Judd Apatow is involved in right now.

and a host of others. Comedy is my favorite genre - thus the reason I'm incredibly picky on what does and doesn't pass for funny.

Personally, I think the silver screen is in a relative down period for comedies, save what Judd Apatow and his crew are doing. The best comedy in the industry right now is mostly on cable tv with Weeds, it's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Extras, Flight of the Conchords, South Park, Family Guy, The Office and 30 Rock.

Got some some of my favorites on there as well:

Here are some of my all time favorite comedies:

Blazing Saddles
Animal House
Office Space
Caddy Shack
There's something about Mary
Glaxy Quest
South Park
The Full Monty
American Pie
Quest for the Holy Grail
Wedding Crashers
Young Frankenstien
Spaceballs
Vacation
Airplane
Big Momma's House
The Cable Guy
Clerks
Stir Crazy
Ace Ventura
Austin Powers
The Man Who Knew Too Little
Groundhog Day

I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting.

I can tell you just from the previews that Good Luck Chuck would have a hard time breaking into my Top Comedy list. Still I will give it a chance when it comes out on DVD.

I thought Good Luck Chuck was.. OK. It wasn't as good as say Knocked up, but definitely better than Balls of Fury...

Plus it seemed like it was kinda like the whole employee of the month movie just a big edgier i guess....

Knocked up was good but 40yr old was better. Knocked up way to serious material to be funny sometimes.

The wife and I thought this was hillarious. Dane Cook cracks us up, though.
