You could make the argument that if he picked black women, that they would be biased. So maybe he's not the one, out of touch.

That argument makes no sense in a league that is 67% black and 100% male.

The DV advisory group is four white women? How sensitive!

This isn't a jury. It is an advisory group.

One of the women is already an employee whose job is being expanded to include social responsibility. -- Anna Isaacson, currently the Vice President of Community Affairs and Philanthropy, will take on a new and expanded role as Vice President of Social Responsibility.

The other three sound very qualified.

Lisa Friel was the head of the Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit in the New York County District Attorney's Office for more than a decade, where she investigated and prosecuted cases of sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic violence, human trafficking, and other similar forms of misconduct.

Jane Randel is the co-founder of NO MORE, a national initiative to raise the profile of and normalize the conversation about domestic violence and sexual assault.

Rita Smith is the former executive director of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

While I may disagree with how Goodell is handling some of these recent issues from a PR or procedural standpoint, my blame is with the individuals. That is where my focus is. Crisis situations with legal and union considerations are very difficult situations to handle.

Ray Rice. Adrian Peterson. Greg Hardy. Ray McDonald. Jonathan Dwyer. Daryl Washington. These are the people to focus blame upon, and are the individuals who have failed.

So, when hiring people, the color of their skin shows how in touch with you they are?

Gotcha.

We live in a country where who you are as an individual matters not. The only thing that matters is what group dynamic you belong to. Why shouldn't the NFL reflect that?

Sadly, most here don't see it that way. It's easier to blame the commissioner.

I suppose if he hired a random white, black, asian and mexican woman with no experience people would be happier.

Having been an officer at fortune 500 company I can tell you it's long been a problem in Corporate America that the higher you go up in the food chain the less diverse it becomes. You see fewer women in leadership positions after a certain level and even fewer minorities. I had a CEO that once said that leadership should reflect the diversity of it's customers or it is a direct reflection on that company's credibility. His argument was that if you can't find qualified individuals of all races, you're not looking hard enough.

These women might very well be qualified but I find it hard to believe there were no other women out there of other races just as qualified.

No one ever said anyone in the group is not "qualified". I guess you don't understand the purpose of diversity in an advisory group.

Jesse Jackson (adulterer who fathered a child with a staffer and "paid" her using coalition funds until the affair and baby became public knowledge) has explained this to me via his outrage in the news. :sarcasm:

Maybe Goodell should have had an advisory group to assist him in picking his DV Advisory Group...

I am not going to complain just because they are or are not of a certain race. I will wait to see how they handle their jobs and see if any real issues arise from their race - besides whining and griping from the public or minority groups.

Here is what I would say in regards to this arguement. Is it more important to get the advisory board in place as quickly as possible during this firestorm? Or, is it more important to get the perfect mix of people? IMO, it is most important to get this advisory board in place as quickly as possible, AFTER WHICH we can then look at tweeking it to get the ideal mix.

So, I consider an advisory group comprised of women as the win. My hope is that the NFL continues to look at it, and mold it to get the desired composition.

I'm offended at the lack of tall people in the group. We're underrepresented and won't stand for it.

Yeah, they say those women are there to advise, but that aint the case. It's clear now that Goodell doesn't run the NFL, Budweiser, Pepsi, McDonalds, and Cambell's Soup are the ones running things now. Money talks, and Goodell walks. The ladies are around for public appearance.

Roger Goodell probably longs for the good old days of side stepping the issue of cumulative brain trauma.

Just read an article about Goodell's statement today. Bunch of lip service IMO but during his statement he was interrupted by a protestor and when cops dragged him off he screamed, "Don't take me to an elevator!!!"
