If the Cardinals would have drafted Shep Messing in 1972 after he graduation from Harvard University, what position would they have drafted him to play?

As I recall, Shep was a star in the old NASL. I believe he played for the Cosmos.

If you would have asked for a position in baseball, I'd say Catcher. But, no clue in football!

Shep was a soccer goalie, no?

Perfect NFL position would be a kick-blocker on ST's.
Yes, come to think of it, I believe Shep was a goalie. And IIRC he was providing color commentary for NY Red Bulls matches when I had the MLS package a few years back.
