My guess is that he shot better in the Suns workout than he has in Euro play. If everybody thinks he is an absolutely awful shooter, then it would explain why he fell so far.

One thing I find cuious. This board was just loaded with people who wanted to get TJ Ford who is small, a weak defender and can't shoot. But then they turn around and trash a guy who has many of Ford's skills but is much lonter, thougher, and can play defense. Neither have a great reputation as shooters, but Ford is viewed as a savrior and this guy is a bum - at 10% the price.

I watched some pre-draft video of Dragic playing in Europe and thought he played well but most video clips only show the best of a player anyway. However, I then went to the Suns Official Site and watched his workout there. I must say I was absolutely impressed by his fluidity, speed and the ability to hit the outside shot or go inside. IMO, his shooting form was just excellent. He hit a series of shots from the left corner (appeared near three point range) and often did not even ripple the net. I am not easily impressed but this young man really appears to be the real thing. He also has the physical build and attitude to go with it. I just don't know how he slipped into the second round no matter what the reasons given. I know now why the Suns were whooping it up after they got him. I am much more excited about Dragic that Lopez. Also I view him as a possible candidate to play beside Nash which would drive opposing teams nuts.

Search Phoenix Suns: Draft Night 2008, Part 2 on youtube. Looks like LA offered us Charlotte's first rounder next year for pick 48. That could definitely be a top 15 pick next year, possibly top ten. I really hope Goran pans out.

I think it was Charlotte's 2nd rounder, not their 1st.

He did look good and seems to have a nice mid range shot. The European stats http://www.nba.com/draft2008/profiles/GoranDragic.html suggests he can shoot, but not with range.
