Pitchers never start every game of the season anymore. So, this is a shout-out to Gallen for his time here (and the hope to retain him). In the long season, it basically means nothing.

But I can see both sides.

Burnes pitching a day later means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things. I think this was more of a gesture to Gallen for his time here than anything. Burnes and Gallen have mutual respect for one another.
