Finally got DIRECTV installed this morning... Signed up for the NFL Sunday Ticket package, so now I'll get to see my beloved Cardinals every week. Does anybody know if the pre-season games will be available on the dish?

The NFL Network will be broadcasting pre-season games.

I never thought that I could see all these games on my TV
But now with this dish I truly see how beautiful life can be
Because I got the Sunday Ticket...It's mine Peyton!!
The NFL Sunday Ticket check him out....

I never thought I'd see the day
When I would have the juice to say, Hey Butkis come watch the Bears!!
I never thought that I could see, all these games in sweet HD
Because I have said, it couldn't be done
Oh it can be done

The NFL Sunday ticket
This how watching football games should be
The NFL Sunday Ticket from Directv!!!!!!!!!

NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ Short Cuts are commercial-free game replays showing every play in 30 minutes or less on channels 701 - 704.

NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ Short Cuts will be available after the conclusion of all NFL Sunday games starting at approximately midnight ET Sunday.

Do yourself a favor and get a high definition receiver. The difference is incredible and worth the extra money it costs.

Is that available with the standard package or do you have to buy the HD package?

Pre-season games( central time)
Monday, 8/15 vs Dallas , 6 a.m.

monday, 8/22 vs Chiefs, 9 a.m.

Sunday, 8/28 vs Raiders, 3 p.m.

Those are all taped delayed of coarse.

Friday, 9/2 vs Broncos, 9 p.m. This game will be live.

Hope you got Tivo.

The obligatory words of caution - Check the schedule regularly. Sometimes there will be last minute changes. If you plan to TIVO or tape a game, set it up to start and end an hour earlier/later to make certain you get the entire game. And if you can do it, monitor the game and recording in "real time" just to make sure the game is, in fact, being recorded.

I go one step further and TIVO the games on more than one receiver (because sometimes the NFL Network reception on one of my receivers will pixilate or break up - a situation peculiar only to my household: only that one receiver/only NFL Network).

90 - 90% of the time, there won't be a problem (& you have to assume NFL Network shook out most of the bugs during the past year). But there's nothing more frustrating than to set up your entire weekend social schedule around a preseason game and then it doesn't air as scheduled. Better safe than sorry.

And don't get me wrong - DirecTV and Sunday Ticket is the best technological advance since Saran Wrap.

Yep, I'm not in AZ. As for the gear, it's the standard dish, no Tivo. Still, what a great leap forward for a fan who previously had to go to some smoky sports bar to see a game that no one else was watching (except fans of the opponent).
Now if I can just get my VCR working again...

Just two more months until the games count. I can hardly wait...

VCR's are very cheap. Buy a new one for what one month's Directv costs.
