CLEVELAND — Veteran forward Grant Nelson looks like he'll be back in the starting five for Alabama basketball. He was announced among UA's starters at the arena pregame.

Before the No. 2 seed Crimson Tide's second-round showdown versus No. 7 seed Saint Mary's at Rocket Arena, the Devils Lake, North Dakota, native looked just fine in pregame shootaround ahead of tipoff against the Gaels.

Nelson, who was wearing a padded brace under a sleeve on his left leg before the game, told reporters on Saturday that he expected to be "questionable" or a "game-time decision."

He injured his knee in Alabama's loss to Florida in the SEC Tournament and came off the bench to spark the Crimson Tide vs. Robert Morris in a first-round March Madness game.

"We were trying not to play him, only play him in case of emergency. And Robert Morris was very good, and we needed to play him there at the end," Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats said.

Oats told Crimson Tide Sports Network ahead of Sunday's game that Alabama would need Nelson "in a big way" to go toe-to-toe with a defensively dominant Saint Mary's.

With a win, the Crimson Tide will advance in East Region play to meet Brigham Young later in the week.
