According to San Diego Union Tribune senior sports editor Jerry Magee, The Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green, enamored with wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, is said to be championing a trade in which the Cardinals would exchange their first-round draft selection, No. 3, for the Chargers' No. 1 choice. As compensation, San Diego would receive 6-6, 372-pound offensive guard Leonard Davis.

I would be very much against this ........far too much for a move of two places and when a WR will be available at #3

If that happened it would suck more than anything that has ever sucked before.

Yes it would.

Essentially trading two top 5 picks on a WR lacking speed...c'mon!

There is no way this happens.

Didn't this Leonard Davis to the Chargers rumor start even before Dennis Green was named the Cards head coach? Seems like it started almost the first day the season came to an end.

If the Cards elect to trade up it better be for Eli Manning. I think he would create more excitement in Arizona than Fitzgerald.

Trade Big, Clement and our 2nd round pick to the Giants for their first rounder, then get Fitz and Gallery! That would be a great trade for all parties involved!

This article was in their Sunday paper, maybe Green feels the Cardinals can fill the guard position through free agency like adding Chris Villarreal (Bears), Vaughn Parker (Chargers) and/or Rueben Brown (Bills). His theory might be that there are options at guard to help the Cardinals. I wouldn't put it past Green to explore trading for Fitzgerald. He wanted Moss a few years ago and said he would take him if available, he told ESPN that Culpepper was the best player in the 2000 draft and he chose him and a couple of years ago he was pushing Michael Bennett and he drafted him in the first round. I doubt the Raiders pass on Fitzgerald at number 2 so he feels that he must go to 1 to get his man. We shall see, but knowing Green he usually gets his man.

Yes but he didn't trade up for any of those guys they were all taken with draft picks the team had going into the draft.

This sounds like wishful thinking from SD.

Career stats

At 6-2 and 350 pounds, Kelvin Garmon is a force to be reckoned with on the Chargers’ offensive line. A warrior on the field, Garmon is a gentle family man off of it.
In 2003, he recently proposed to longtime girlfriend, Megan Peterson, whom he met during his college days at Baylor. The couple has scheduled their wedding for June 2004 in Dallas.

Garmon enjoys computers, whether it’s surfing the internet, playing games or working to improve his skills as a Web site designer. He also enjoys shooting a game of pool, playing pickup basketball or dabbling in classic car restorations. Garmon has a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado and a 1970 Cadillac Deville, and he’d like to own at least one car from each decade starting with 1960.

2003: Started every game at left guard...only Chargers offensive linemen to start every game in 2003.

2002: Started Weeks 12-16 at left guard…saw action as reserve guard and tackle Nov. 24 at Miami…played tackle for first time in career replacing injured Ed Ellis in fourth quarter of Dolphins’ game…saw action as reserve guard Nov. 17 versus San Francisco…inactive Weeks 6-9…acquired by Chargers Oct. 12 from Dallas Cowboys in exchange for 2003 draft choice…started Weeks 1-5 at guard for Cowboys prior to trade.

2001: Only new starter on Dallas’ offensive line at right guard…started all 16 games...first NFL start was against Tampa Bay’s All-Pro tackle Warren Sapp, holding him to one tackle and no sacks.

2000: Inactive for first 15 games…dressed for season finale at Tennessee on Dec. 25 but did not play.

1999: Spent season on “Reserve-Non-Football Injury” list rehabilitating fractured right tibia suffered during senior season at Baylor.

Games Played-Started: 2003: (16-16). 2002 (12-10, 7-5 for San Diego, 5-5 for Dallas); 2001 (16-16); 2000 (0-0), 1999 (0-0); Total (44-42).

College: As senior played every position, except center, on Bears’ offensive line…senior year ended after four games due to fractured right leg...started at both guard and tackle as junior and sophomore…majored in physical therapy.

Personal: Born Oct. 26, 1976 in Fort Worth, Texas…played offensive and defensive line at Haltom High School in Haltom, Texas…earned all-district and all-state honors as senior…also earned varsity letters in basketball and track...engaged, Megan, and resides in San Diego.

I'm going to deal with this one last time. After this, if anybody argues it, I'll ignore it.

Rod Graves is calling the shots in the draft room. He has no ego and willingly defers credit. But he is tough and will not give up accountability to Dennis Green. If there is a large difference in opinion on a player, Graves wins. Bank on it.

If this is a good draft, go ahead, credit Green. He will have had a lot of influence anyway. Otherwise, why hire him? If it's a bad draft, blame Rod Graves.

Well,Graves made a horrible trade last year in the draft. Why wouldn't he do it again this year?Hopefully,Green has ALOT of influence. But trading Davis is just plain stupid.I don't care who is doing it.It makes absolutely no sense unless there's some hidden injury concern that no one knows about.

Cardinals push trade

Making this trade would position the San Diego club to come out of the draft with two offensive linemen, Davis and whomever Marty Schottenheimer would identify on the choice obtained from Arizona. But Davis' notices in Arizona have not been flattering.

I certainly hope this does not happen. Not for Larry Fitzgerald. I have given Graves the benefit of the doubt for last year. He said he wanted to build the belly of the team, and its too early to say he didn't. Certainly, Q makes the draft, but Pace, Johnson, Wells, King, and Hayes might all wind up as quality contributors.

It won't happen. Why morgage one of our best OL for an unproven Rookie? It will just weaken the OL instead of fxing it. Ain't gonna happen.

This is more media BS re: DG. Folks get used to it. Where are the quotes?

You want quotes look what DG actually said. OL and DL are the most important things in football. He said that day 1 press conference.

There aren't any quotes by anybody because its just a rumor at this point.

I don't see this trade happening either.

This whole thread should have been marked as rumor. It's nonsense.
