If you haven't heard Greg Jennings signed a new contract with the Packers yesterday and the numbers are decently high for a guy coming into his fourth season. He got $27.535 over four seasons which comes out to almost $7 million a season and I've got to think that Boldin won't go below that mark now (if he ever would have). He also got $16 million guaranteed and could earn an additional three million via incentives, which would push the yearly average over $7.6 per season.

Would Boldin do a deal for something in the $7.5 to $8 million dollar range or will he look at Jennings deal and think that he's a better player and deserves a bigger contract?

He has tried to convince everybody that he is better for quite some time now, but the truth is, nobody is going to give up the farm for him.

So I think he would take such a deal. Even though he is not getting one this offseason.

Jennings was on the last year of his contract. Q has 2 remaining years. This may no happen for him until next year.

If we cannot re-sign Dansby it definately won't happen.

As one of the few, it seems, that knows the difference between resign and re-sign... you may want to take note that there is a difference between "definately" and definitely. The latter is a word found in the dictionary. ;)

I hope that you are joking around with your grammar correction. We all make mistakes. I say this because your use of a preposition at the beginning of a sentence is grammatically incorrect. You also write, “you may want to take note that there is” when a more succinct writer could have stated, “please note the difference.” Finally, your last sentence is incomplete. I am neither an editor nor school teacher, yet the mistakes you made were violations of rules I learned in the sixth grade.;)

And yes..... I AM TOTALLY JOKING AROUND. So, please don't take offense.

This definitely has a huge bearing on Boldin's new deal.

Over the last two years Jennings has outperformed Q (YDs, TDs, FUM, YPC, YAC), is three years younger and still getting better, whereas Q is at least on the backside of his prime. Jennings' style of play isn't as conducive to injury as that of Q either. This makes me think that Jennings would have more value than Q on the open market.

Like Kurt Warner, I do think some players should be compensated not only for their current production, but for what they have done for the organization in the past. I dont think this should apply to Kurt, but it does make sense in the case of Q IMO. he has been a real leader of this team for 7 years now and is the epitome of what you want from a player. Say what you will about his contract squabbles, but his teammates love him and cant seem to say enough about his effort, preparation and dedication to both the team and the game overall. This guy singlehandedly made a few seasons of dreadful Cardinal football worth watching and made me want to switch from RB to wideout.

I say offer Q the same deal.

No offence taken. (Queen's English) ;)

My elementary schooling was in French and, while I know most of the rules, I truncate from time to time. My spelling, however, is fairly good.

It is sometimes difficult to be both succinct and solicitous in a sentence.

Not sure you can say he outperformed. Jennings played in 5 more games, so of course he's going to have more totals. But in the per game category, Boldin comes out on top.

I disagree. Q is as good as ANYONE when he's healthy, but he isn't often fully healthy. Jennings had more TDs, 4 less fumbles and 5+ more YPC.

Thanks. I've just been a bit busy with one thing or another. The job market up here is non-existent so I have been out there working ten times harder to make half as much. Then our computer crashed and we switched over and got an IMac that i still don't really comprehend how to use.

Everytime a WR signs a deal to make more $$$ than Q you cant bet steam comes out of his ears. If he doesn't have a new deal by this time next season you can pretty much bet he will play out his deal and never wear a Cards uniform again.

A whopping 1 more TD? Playing in 5 more games?

Also, ypc is a very overrated stat. What matters more is total yards. If you're getting your team 80 yards a game, what difference does it make if you needed 5 catches or 8 catches to get it? What difference does it make for the team?

Here's a more important stat. First downs. Moving the chains.
Boldin had more, despite playing in 5 fewer games.

I'm not sure it will have that great of an impact in Boldin's case because the Cards have proven that they can win without him, and he has two years remaining on his contract. Also, because of his aggressive play he has received some injuries which could affect his ability to stay on the field in future years. There is no doubt that we are better team with him than without, however, this is a business and he will have to show that his attitude or his ability to play the game is not affected. I will leave the grammer and spelling check to our friend to the North. (American English) :)

the other thing to consider is that Jennings is the #1 guy in Green Bay. As much as Boldin doesn't like it, he's #2 in Arizona, and that affects his ability to get the big contract. I think if the Cards made a similar offer, they will get him signed to an extension. If Boldin turns down a similar offer,he's either delusional, or really wants out of Arizona.
