What would be the point though? He won't play this season, and he will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

It would give the Suns a leg up so to speak when he become a FA and an opportunity to have their medical staff look at him.

Salvaged title. Damaged goods.

Call it whatever you want, he's done (unfortunately).

That's one more than Oden has had up in his NBA career.

He'd be worth a shot at or around the vet minimum. If any medical staff can make an impact, ours can.

Would be better to have him for the additional 3 1/2 months with our medical staff than wait for July 1st, but he isn't going to be playing this year, so it would be a waste of a roster spot. At least until we're officially out of the playoffs.

The Suns would have to pay the remainder of Oden's 1.5M dollar contract this season. It's unlikely to happen though.

Oden waved back and tore a ligament in his right wrist.

Wait for him to clear, then sign him. Or better yet, offer him free time with the Suns workout staff in exchange for first dibs should the Suns want to sign him. In other words, get a good look first.

Another thought, Steve Nash has the same agent (Bill Duffy) as Oden. If I were Duffy, I would think hard about steering him to the Suns because of their medical staff.

I thought Oden's agent is Mike Conley SR....

Why can't the Suns give him a good look and see if he can be salvaged... heck Suns took a gamble with Nash who was supposedly have back problems and Hill who was coming off multiple ankle surgeries and a BIG chunk of bone missing from his ankle....

Its a chance to gain an asset for virtually nothing. Good to either keep or sell as long as it doesn't hurt plans elsewhere.
