Ha! That guy is living up to his rep as a grade A d-bag.

Not sure how long the video from that link will stay up so enjoy it while you can.

I understand playing old school and defending your teammate, Greinke felt the Pads needed some retribution for throwing near Kemp... but to then antagonize Quentin after beaning him? He wanted a fight... he got it and now he reaps the reward.

And on a huge plus for the Dbacks, Kemp's conduct will almost certainly warrant a multi-game suspension. If he does not file an immediate appeal he could miss the entire series this weekend.

Carlos will be suspended. Greinke in no way was throwing at him in a one-run game with a full count. Quentin gets hit a lot because he never moves when a pitch comes close to him. Carlos started towards the mound, stopped and then Zack said something. Carlos should of just walked to first.

Carlos has been hit like 96 times as a big-leaguer. And during his Stanford days, I remember he was hit a lot too. He's never once charged the mound in all those times that I can recall.

Carlos is a good kid. He might be a headcase at times, but he generally keeps his cool.

So what made this time special? Greinke had to provoke him beyond beaning him for the 3rd or 4th time in their careers. Not saying Carlos was right, but I think Greinke had it coming.

I hate to laugh at a player's injury, but I can't keep from smiling when I read about this story.

Greinke didnt start it? Any question of if Carlos would charge the mound or not was answered when Greinke started walking towards him mouthing off. Greinke wanted a fight, and he got it.

Carlos, Greinke, Kemp will all be suspended, along with whatever Dodger came charging out of the dugout after the brawl was seemingly over and triggered another bench clearing, Scully believed it was Jerry Hairston Jr.

His fault or not, it looks like Greinke will be out for 8 weeks or so.

No way did grienke start this, quentin is beyond dumb for thinking he was being thrown at and took a few steps forward before grienke even said anything. To even look at the mound makes it quentins fault

I was watching NFL live this morning and they were critiquing on how Greinke's form was all wrong when he was leading with his shoulder.:biglaugh:

To the D'backs credit, he is one of the "dumb" players they have gotten rid of over the years.

From now on they should refer to the 6 tools:

1- Hit for average
2- Hit for power
3- Field
4- Throw
5- Run
6- Not "dumb"

I think they did that when they drafted him out of Stanford.

Greinke hits opposing batters around the rate of 1 every 250 PA's. He hits Quentin 1 every 10 PA. I'd have charged the mound too.

if he wanted to hit him why wait til a 3-2 count? and everyone hits Quentin.

There's just no way he was throwing at him. I put this all on Quentin.

Quentin is an idiot. No way he was being thrown at with a 3-2 count in a 2-1 game with runners on base. Come to find out he was still mad about the last time Greinke hit him FOUR YEARS AGO! What a D-Bag...

Quentin is lucky he only got 8 games. Should have gotten a lot more...

Again, whether Greinke meant to hit him or not does not really matter. After hitting him Greinke then walks towards Quentin and barks something at him... at that point Greinke is asking for it. What is Quentin supposed to do? This guy has made a habit of beaning him, now after hitting him he further antagonizes Carlos... and this is all on Quentin?

Even if he had NOT had a history with Carlos, to hit a guy (near his head) and then walk towards him talking crap; its totally uncalled for... unless you WANT to start a fight.

watch the video grienke only barks when Quentin takes 3 steps towards him then does that ***** thing of not charging but on the infield grass. I would yell something saying if you want to charge just do it.

I've reviewed it several times and I don't see it that way. Clearly, neither does MLB. Also, who freaking cares. Even if he'd mouthed off as soon as the ball hit Quentin, charging the mound in that situation is letting your teammates down in a big way. He has to know that he wasn't being thrown at and no other reason warrants a charge to the mound. Especially given MLB's oft-stated desire to put an end to this kind of behavior (Quentin's, not Greinke's, as the pitch location was clearly an accident).

As it happened live Scully even noted that Greinke "had something to say" to Quentin right before Carlos charged. Skip forward to 3:08 in the video and you can see him say something to Quentin before he charged.

And if you think I am saying Carlos should not have been suspended you're misunderstanding me. He is not clear of blame, he could have ignored the antagonism and taken his base. I dont think the MLB suspending him means they "clearly" disagree with me because I would have suspended him too. Players cant charge the mount... but Greinke was asking for it.

And azcardsfan, I agree with your entire post, but players do that (take a few steps towards the mound) all the time after being hit, but you dont normally see the pitcher walk forward too and hurl a bit of verbal abuse... unless the guy wants to fight.

Sure you do, anything else looks cowardly. He's by no means the only pitcher to take an aggressive stance if it looks like the batter is about to charge him. As for the "verbal abuse", I lip read and I'm pretty sure he just asked him his favorite color. Players talk all game long and they all say some pretty abusive things.
