No, I haven't been ecstatic since our embarrassing loss to the Falcs.

But neither am I either (a) a masochist who enjoys reading all the negative "Cut him!" "Fire him!" "Get him!" posts or conversly (b) the next Bobby McFerrin (who wrote and sang "Don't Worry Be Happy").

I, therefore, have to admit to have scrolled down the inevitable "they suck!"/"they're really not that bad" thread topics and decided to pass on reading any of them.

I am terribly fearful that we're really that bad; while at the same time hopeful that it's early in the season and that Wiz and his players will figure out a way to fix what's broke.

Meanwhile, I think I'll pass on attacking or defending the Cardinals, because I don't see how it would be very helpful. (I'm pretty sure the coaches and players know they got blacktopped Sunday after escaping narrowly with a win the week before, and there's nothing we can say that they don't painfully know already).

I'll just continue to avoid watching NFL Net and ESPN & keep my fingers crossed in the hope that this bad dream will blow over soon.

I am with you Mr. Gollin. It is week 2 of NFL football. Lots of football to watch, and unbelievable as it may seem to some I am looking forward to the rest of the season. Regardless of wins or losses.

Agreed...we lost a hall of fame QB and that hurts.

I think the running game is coming along (prepare to hear the juvenile squad come in and blow that statement out of proportion).

The defense, I am afraid, is too young. They will have some good days, but not consistent.

Atlanta man-handled our team. The only hope is that we are as mentally out of it as it was stated. Cause as I said, physically we got dominated.

I think the Saints and Colts would be much smarter if they knew Manning or Brees were retiring and the backup they were grooming for three years wasn't their guy. I'm sure the Saints or Colts would not have painted themselves in a corner and got one of the worst starting QB's in the league from one of the worst teams in the league and say "here you go, but if it doesn't work out we got this UDFA QB ready to go."

I'm going to try my best not to pass judgment on this season, but I have seen this before, we all have. Key, core players leave and are replaced by much older vets cast off from other teams, or by late round draft picks and UDFA's.

Everybody knew this day was coming, yet the Cards sat on their butt and did absolutely squat in FA to mitigate key departures. They have missed on draft picks which set them back immensely and got band aid players hoping that they would alleviate the pain of key players leaving at already thin positions.

I understand why people are excited and don't want to question things. Wiz has taken this team to incredible places and apparently has changed the culture. I like him a lot, but I also see decisions being made, or not made that are slowly eroding away what was built the past three years. The Cards are way under the cap. If players like Dansby, Boldin, Warner, and Rolle wanted to leave that's fine. But don't replace them with aging vets, UDFA's and a terrible position players.

Yeah, I don't understand the sinking ship mentality some have here. I spent the offseason counting the days till the season starts and now that it's here I intend to find a little enjoyment with it. I'm frustrated by our lack of effort (or whatever it was) in Atlanta but there's still a lot of football to be played.

I guess our start is probably harder on those that were expecting huge things from the Cards this season. Like them, I question some of the FO decisions but I also question why people entered this season with huge expectations in the first place. Too many personnel losses and too many position changes from a team that wasn't much above average last year to begin with.

Maybe this week's game will end some of the misery. If we lose to Oakland we won't have the weight of hope bearing down on us so we can enjoy the game's moments for what they are. And if we win, hopefully, we'll gain a week's reprieve from the depressingly repetitive threads.

The defense is too young? I think that is hardly a defensible statement. Look how old everyone is but Williams and Washington. Williams does not start ande Washington has been stellar. Greg Toler is in his second year and has some of the best tackles on the team. Don't think youth has much to do with the performance of the defense.

Always enjoy your posts. I can sum up my feelings this way. I am hesitating to buy NFL Sunday ticket for the season. Now, if I was a Texans' fan I'd be "in" but with my Cards I'm more curious than anything right now. There are still some talented players on this team. There is also tremendous leadership. ...And like many on here, I trust in Whiz'.

I'm just curious to see how, assuming the Oakland game isn't going well, the coaches & players respond to the chorus of boo's they'll hear. There's been plenty to cheer about the past couple of years. I'm also curious to see, again if we're going down in flames against the Raiders, does Michael B. step forward and say, Enough of this...Let's fix this thing before we get any further.

...And IF the FO just sticks their head in the sand and does nothing?? Well, I can make an honest prediction that our string of sell-outs is going to end. So, let's see what happens. I'm curious. I'm hopeful. I'm also realistic. GO CARDS!

Haggins, Porter, Dockett, Wilson, Rhodes, Lenon, Robinson are not spring chickens.

Even DRC and Campbell didnt arrive yesterday.

I don't think that, in my angst and funk, I could go so far to not subscribe to Sunday Ticket. The most I do each week is turn the sound off so I at least don't have to hear inane comments from inane announcers.

Note - In case you get depressed watching NFL highlights or Cable News
this week, National Geographic-Wild has some terrific Snake Wrangler episodes, and there's always "Chopped" on the Food Channel.

One game-observation I wasn't fully aware of til just recently:

The reason the Falcons went smashmouth with Snelling and Mughelli was more due to accident than design (both Turner and Norwood had been injured). In other words, Mike Brown adjusted to adverse conditions on the ground. Guess who didn't adjust to Brown's adjustment?

Negative threads do serve a purpose. That is letting fans blow off steam. It is better to get it out of your system than let it burn you to death on the inside. My thoughts have not been fire him or trade him or whatever. I think we have played only two games and none of us know yet just how we are going to finish this season. How would you like to be a Cowboys fan who's team was expected to contend for the Superbowl but have lost 2 in a row? How about being Bear's fan who's team was supposed to suck and have won 2 in a row. The Colts totally destroyed the Giants and the Giants were supposed to be a decent team. For every winner there is a loser. This week is a new week. We have bared our soul now its time to do a Hank Snow "I'm Moving On".

I don't agree. First when you get beat 41-7 you are going to have negative threads by the dozen. However the Pollyanna gang loves to exaggerate just how negative the threads are.

Second in regards to the Raiders game if the Cards play another game like they did against the Rams but still win I don't think we'll see too many people talking about how improved the Cards looked. More like well we still have a lot to work out but at least we're 2-1.

What we need to see Sunday is some crispness instead of a Chinese Fire Drill. The offense looking like it is gelling and hitting on most if not all cylinders and everybody on the same page, fewer penalties-20 in two games is horrendous-and a defense that is not just hanging on by forcing turnovers but also making the Raiders work for every yard with solid tackling and being in the right place at the right time and controlling the los.

In other words the team play that Adub was talking about and then we'll see talk about how improved the Cards looked.

How about realistic threads?

The Cards are 1 & 1 but are trending in the wrong direction. (But fortunately, the negative trend is only one game old).

The bright side is that their division isn't all that strong and there's still time for them to get various aspects of their game together.

The darker side is that we don't know whether or not the players and coaches will be able to do that. (Not knowing makes you crazy).

Final point - If there are two things that make my (remaining) hair catch on fire it's (1) being run against at-will between the tackles and (2) appearing to "give up" when we're far behind late in games. So if I sound overly negative generally, it's mainly because of those two things.
