Reddick will do just fine in a system where our LBing crew is stout. Take him under your wing Dansby!
DWash had a couple of good seasons but now? Right now Minter is better than DWash at least he's on a roster.washington had to pair up with gerald hayes
what does this wings mean
if u are good u can play solid with minter next to u

A 265lb D-end in a 3-4 gets run over and Jones is not particularly good against the run. Move him inside and you negate his strength and true value to this "D". IMO
Only problem is Jones lost weight this off season. But situationally it could work. I like Reddick as a blitzer up the gut or off the edge. I hope they put him in varied blitz packages to use that rush ability. The Patriots slid Jones down to RDE in their base from time to time and Jones played very well there, especially versus the run. In fact, they really liked the inside QB pressures he got from that spot. Remember that the base 34 is only on the field for about 30% of the snaps. Plus, Jones is awkward at OLB...lacks lateral agility.
Critics of Reddick should remember that he's learning a new position with new responsibilities, so it's going to take at least a year IMO before he grasps what he's actually doing.
I'm with Mitch, play him off the edge in pass rush situations & limit his snaps during the season at ILB. IMO Bynes can & should beat out Scoobey too take up the slack in the middle. I just don't think an unprepared ILB needs to be starting on a playoff caliber defense & team.
I agree with K-9.
We're always inclined to give highly touted rookies benefit of the doubt and cut them more slack "so they can get up to NFL speed."
Meanwhile it takes a new signee like Bynes 4 days to learn the Cardinal playbook and make a half-dozen plays in his first preseason game. Or a smart guy like #36 to miss OTA's but still make his presence known almost immediately. (& how long did it take for the Badger to make an impression)?
I tend to be biased toward assuming that early-bloomers are better bets than more heralded late bloomers.
All 3 guys are newcomers to the Cardinal defensive system. Two of them are taking to it like a duck to water. That doesn't make the 3rd guy a bust by any means, but I do think it makes him a tad riskier.Bynes is a vet who has played the position before. #36 played his position in college. Reddick was an OLB in college & is now learning how to play ILB.

Learning a whole new position doesn't make it harder? That's on top of learning a new defense.
Boo hoo. You're a big boy, getting paid big dollars. No one's making excuses for you. When you're a starting middle linebacker, you either play like a starting-caliber player, or you find another line of work.
I think that having the talent to be a Top 10 pick in the NFL draft probably should put this all on a sliding scale.
I agree with you but it's not Reddick's fault he was drafted to play a position he had never played before. If this doesn't work out at ILB, I place 100% of the responsibility on the Cardinals.
Yup. Way too soon to be picking in the kid. Hopefully he is a backup/situational player this year as expected and next year I'll start expecting him to do big things as a starterTrue which is why he is getting some praise & looks great in flashes. Instincts will come once he has a full grasp of the position.
That's just dumb IMO. Expecting a kid to know the in's & out of a new position and play like a guy who's played much of his HS & college career at a position is ridiculous expectation regardless of where he's drafted. I still say the kids gonna be a helluva player, it's gonna take some time.Boo hoo. You're a big boy, getting paid big dollars. No one's making excuses for you. Your right but chances are probably 60-70% of the 1st round picks won't even start week 1 because of being an inexperienced rook & that's not even factoring in a position switch.Sorry. That's his job. No one in the NFL is on scholarship or keeping up the team GPA.
Unless i killed too many brain cells between April and now, i'm pretty sure Reddick was drafted 13th, not in the top 10.No ones picking on him, but he's expected to make an immediate impact. That was the book on him when he was drafted in the top 10. Top 10 picks don't sit on the bench in the NFL.
Ok then.couple.......
he played 4 season, all of them at highest level
It's about time we get us a LBer though. Look at all the teams around the league that's had great LBers. Us? Well..Boo hoo. You're a big boy, getting paid big dollars. He looks nothing like DWash. DWash popped out of the screen in his first preseason games. His instincts at diagnosing a play were off the charts. Reddick? Not so much, and that's concerning.
