Yea. This is a nice signing. I think Hadnot will win a starting spot because of his runblocking skills. I am hoping that it is at center instead of leftguard.

Yessir, it's doubtful the Cards jettison Wells this year since Billy Boy still avoids cutting players that have some value left.

I wonder if Wells could slide out to tackle, it's always seemed like he would be a much more natural fit as LT since he has good feet but struggles against huge bullrushers. Depth on the Oline is the best I've seen since I became a Cards fan, though we still could use another developmental type player/future starter at tackle.

Wasn't he already a RT for us when we had Davis at LT? For some reason, I seem to remember Wells as being pretty pedestrian on the outside....

Great signing...this guy is certainly not a HasBeen. Yet another mauler that could compete to start but at worst will provide excellent depth at any of the inside positions.

Way to go RG-----Talk about generating competition for positions, Wells better be ready to play his butt off this year, or he becomes the 2.3 Mil. backup, and is probably gone next year. I really like this, especially the run-blocking ability of Hadnot. Looks like we are puttin' some attitude on the O-side of the ball too. Once again, we get stronger up the middle.

Maybe we have finally seen the last of Reggie Wells. Other than 1 year, the guy hasn't been a legit NFL starter. It used to kill me a couple years ago when people bashed Leonard Davis to no end and then would turn around and heap praise on Wells. In 2008 he was a decent starter, otherwise he has been pretty bad. If Brandon Keith works out, the OL should be better next year. I don't know if the Cards will keep Wells as backup. His versatility may save him but that's kind of why they signed Bridges. If they do keep Wells, they should have a very deep OL.

Brown, Hadnot,Sendlein, Lutui,Keith as the starters
Johnson, Bridges, Wells, and Claxton as the reserves assuming no one is drafted.

Brown & Hadnot on the left side is a pretty badass running tandem.

Gandy is officially gone IMO.

What does this mean for both Keith and Johnson? There are only so many spots to fill.

Isn't it amazing how you can strengthen so many positions when you don't overpay for 1 or 2 players?

Who the heck do you think hired Whiz? Come on. Who do you think had a part in drafting Boldin, Fitz, Dansby, Dockett, and Wilson? Give the guy credit. He's made mistakes, but he is also not some doof like you guys routinely make him out to be.

Don't mention Graves and drafting Boldin in the same sentence, or I'll have to go off on the rant about Graves almost screwing up the drafting of Boldin with his idiotic draft trade ;)

First of all, it was Bidwill that insisted on Whisenhunt, secondly, he wasn't faulting Graves' drafts or anything else about him. He said Whiz gas made this a place where FAs want to be. Every player we've brought in the past couple years has cited coaching as a primary reason for their signing. Have you heard anyone cite management? Boldin, Fitz, Dockett and Wilson were all here when we sucked too Clif. The variable is Whiz.

I would like to cast my vote for Hadno to be on the Reggie Cleveland allstars.

I really did not like Wells last year to be quite honest. Hopefully, Hadnot is better. :D
For a long time, I've felt Wells has been played out of position.

He's always seemed to be a better pass blocker than run blocker., Some say he has the best feet of any of our starting five. Maybe this is the right time to give Reggie a shot at LT and slot in a better run blocker next to him at LG.

Obviously, it depends on our offensive philosophy under Coach Mac and Dennis G - and what it is now under Wiz, but:

Generally speaking, in many offenses, the RT is more of a road-grader and the LT "Protector of the QB's Blindside." This would suggest that Wells could be equally out-of-position at RT as he was at LG.

To complicate things further, Matt Leinart is a lefty. Although he had to play within the context of the right-handed blocking schemes established for Warner, I wonder whether next season's play-selection, blocking schemes and "who plays what position" will be adjusted to accomodate Leinart.

you got that right....for those non-believers....call dan snyder. the beauty
of the f/a signings so far is the f/o is looking past 2010...a team like the bears are paying through the nose for talent to give therm instant grats as they will all be walking the plank if they fail to make the playoffs

Denny's last year where we ended up switching up the o-line a lot did end with Reggie Wells playing solid RT with Leinart under center. There was actually a decent amount of dissent on these boards when Whiz/Grimm chose to move him to LG when it was felt like we had a couple o-line positions figured out (Lutui and Wells). Could be that Hadnot goes to LG lining up next to Levi bringing us that power running side and Wells returns to RT where he played well next to Lutui protecting Leinart's blindside.
