It will take some time for Hall to develop some chemistry with Fitzgerald before we see some good results. This is a fact as they had no time to play in the pre-season, and so they are not on the same page yet. Lets give them some time to develop and they will be fine.

What he does have is the respect of his teammates. It was very refreshing to see the O-line congratulate him and praise him not only after the game but during the game as well.

Max may be small in stature, but has a big heart and is as tough as nails. He reminds me of Drew Breez. You never tell Drew that he can not do things he just does them and I see this in Max.

test the water, I think it is an absolute disgrace that this team did not rally behind Matt Leinart, He is the better QB and probably always will be.

They will never admit it but their is probably a regret or 2 after seeing what happened to DA.

Hall is a desperate move by a desperate team. It can work out and be a fairy tale like Kurt Warner or go like the other 100 or so QB's that has came through Arizona.

Jeff Garcia is a fair comparison, I would like to have Jeffs opinion on Hall. but I aint crowning him anything but 3 times close to broken, cause he has UFA type steel balls till I see a body of NFL work.

Just because He's better than DA, aint saying much, his pick and 2 fumbles could have went the other way just as easy. usually does! Max did not win this game with 168 yards no rush TDs, no pass TD's.

But hitting Fitz when he did helped plenty, Our run game fell apart, cause they stacked the box against Hall. Expect more of the same.

Leinart is no longer relevant.

I'd rather see Hall congratulate the offensive line after they kept him from getting sacked every 4th time he attempted a pass. 10 sacks in only 43 attempts is terrible. In fact its worse than terrible its 1997 bad.

I hope we see Max stop celebrating every reception so much. Calm down and concentrate.

Tom Brady

Tom Brady strikes me as a wuss too! never stopped him from being an all time winner. The team rallied around him cause the coach told them to rally around him. Many were loyal to bledsloe.

There might be something wrong with our fan base but in the Cards site poll 85% of Cards fans wanted Matt to start, right when Whiz cut him.

I think Matt's recent and prior treatment is as relevent to our future as it is to our recent and distant past. but thats just me I respect others opinions.

as far as the run game, this is the first time The Bean got 20 carries and he had them beat down in the 4th quarter, 1st down for 5, 2nd for 3 1/3 Max Hall dead duck pass on 3rd and 1! thats on Whiz!

against a stacked box, defense knew we were going to run to keep the clock going, The Bean imposed his will on them Saints. I think that will happen 90% of the games if Whiz wasn't allergic to running the ball with balance.

We were closer but still pass heavy and won. UFA QB or pro bowler, we won games early in 08 and 07 with a pounding Edge for few yards.

take that away and we collapsed late in the reg season until guess what, Edge was featured again in Seattle and the playoffs,

took it away for the SB and we lost a close one. We can win every time against bad teams and many times against good teams if we just had the saints or Vikings play selection. regardless of the QB.

Matt always struck me as a wuss...

I know! What a bummer!!! I mean, it totally tore into our league-leading rushing stats we were putting up pre-Hall!! :bang:

Somebody forgot the Cards rushed for over 110 yards a game the first three games of the season.

In the other two wins the Cards averaged 5.3 and 4.5 yards per carry. Hall starts and its 1.7. And its not exactly like the Saints had a league leading rush defense. Coming into Sunday's game they had allowed an average of 138 yards per game on the ground.

It's not a knock on Hall that teams will stack the LOS they'd do that against almost anyone in that situation. Its a shame the Cards oline couldn't handle it. But if I know CKW he'll come up with a way to make teams pay for doing it in the future.

Sorry Duck... I refuse to buy into some twisted notion that we had a respectable running game pre-Hall. Yea - Beanie averaged 5.3 against the Raiders, but the Raiders are ranked 31st in the NFL against the rush.
Against the Falcons, Timmy put up 115 yards, but 80 of that came on one play. Against the Chargers, we ran for 47 yards with for an average of 3 yards a carry...
We ran well against the Rams and the Raiders. And we sucked against 3 higher quality teams. If you want to blame that on a rookie QB, fine... be like SMEL... However, I really don't think it takes many more brain cells to know that our issues in the running game have far more to do with our suck-ass o-line than they do our QB.
That said, as Hall continues to progress and as his ability to make teams pay for stacking the box grows, we should see our running game improve, right? Let's hope reality follows... ;)

The Seahawks are going to have to prepare and account for Fitz and co (believe it or not, our tight-ends too). The Saints felt they didn't have to and well...
I hope this opens the run up, that and some dedication by the O-line. I don't care which back is in, I think we will have a much better run game against Seattle.
We will get a 100 plus on the ground against them seachickens.:koolaid:

I still think you spent too much time on the P&R board where contentious spins are the order of the day.

I just posted that the Saints were giving up 138 yards per game rushing coming into last Sunday. They are a high quality team but haven't been so against the run this season.

agree

nice point, Saints stopped the run but Levi Brown rolled them up and Smoked em!

We need to bring in Bridges at LT and let the Smushdown lead block for The Bean in short yardage!

can you imagine blocking through Brown just to get to Beanie! talikng bout damned if you do! might live if you don't!

tackle elgible may be enough to win the superbowl with them soft hands and ample girth.

either that or just have Smushdown shot put Hall into the endzone from 10 yards out, be kind a cool!

Is that a run or a pass play?

and on the 80 yard THT run to average, Jim Brown would have been crap if you take away the long runs, somebody actually reported that once.

Jim Brown laughed and ate him, throwing out his teeth and bones like chinken wings. those yards count as much if not more than average!

You're right of course in that the Saints haven't been playing well... They remain a very talented defense with arguably the top defensive coordinator in the game today. That's a tall order for any rookie QB. Coupled with the fact that we had 2 more UDFA's playing at WR, another rookie (Roberts) WR seeing significant time, and an o-line that redefines putrid... well... IMHO, it's a miracle Hall ended up with the stats he did (63% completion %, 9 of 12 in the 2nd half...).

I am not sure why the team didn't buy into Matt Leinart. It may be that he was accustomed to throwing money at things to make it work-----and that may have been because that's what his folks did with him. I'll try to explain.

Many parents of people Leinart's age did the same thing. They couldn't be bothered with their kids, due to both of them trying to get to the top of thier jobs and excell. Many parents both had jobs, and when they got off work, they didn't want to be fixing dinner or watching kids. They wanted to eat out, and have coctails-----consequently they gave their kids money to go and do things so they didn't have to be bothered with them. Matt may have done what he knew,

Leinart tried to rally his offensive line around him by taking them to Hawaii. Many of them may have resented this act, though they certainly went along for the ride. He may have actually alienated his O-linemen by doing so. He might have been better off doing something on the field that they respected, or even having them and their families over for bbq and beers. I hope this is making sense to you. I guess I'm trying to say that he might have been better off doing something much more simple and less costly to endear them to him. Not everybody can throw that kind of money around, and some might resent that.

So far as the running game is concerned, I agree with you that much of our lack in this effort is because of Whiz's choices. We have an O-line coach who wants to run to impose our will on the opponent, and has built his line to do that. We have two strong running backs who can work in tandem to accomplish that, (and I agree that BEanie did in the Saints game). That third and one pass was a terrible call, after the two runs that Beanie had just put on the board. I also think that Whiz tips off much of our run game by the personnel packages he uses when he wants to run. Beanie or Timmy alone in the backfield, (early in the game on 1st or 2nd down), almost always a running play. Timmy and LSH in the game together, almost always a pass play.

We really don't run the ball enough to cause the defense to defend play action passes. We always pass in those situations and the defense knows it. We really need to run at least as much as we throw, probably more. I would like to see us running slightly more than we pass the ball. I would also like to see us change up our personnel packages. Could you see Beanie and Timmy together in the backfield? What would happen if we had that situation and play actioned to one of them then threw to the other one out of the backfield? Think the defense might be caught off guard?

I guess that I would REALLY like to see Whiz give up play calling after this season, and bring in another OC like Todd Haley, who did us one tremendous job, and allowed Whiz to do his HC duties.

Hall already has chemistry with Fitz, he is just about the only guy he looks at on the field. I'm more concerned with him developing chemistry with the other WRs.

I agree, I saw that and thought what the hell is he doing?. I'm sure the team was getting on him in film sessions. I guess it's no different than a defensive player making a routine tackle while trailing by 30 points and acting like they made a game saving tackle to win the Super Bowl.

I'm just glad that we'll have Breaston and Doucet back this Sunday. Fitz and Breaston combined for 177 yards receiving in Seattle last season. Maybe they can do it again.

Leinart is gone, so we'll never know what he *would* have done with the Cardinals. However, to be fair, what he actually *did* with the Cardinals is not exactly the highest bar to reach. If Hall appears in a similar number of games with the Cards and has similar numbers, I'll see no reason to think Leinart is better.

Wow, this thread took a much different direction than I intended. I was just poking fun at the people who were justifying Anderson's bad passes to Fitzgerald in the the first four games. All the talk of Anderson not getting a chance to work with the one's was just ridicules. It just goes to show you that a thread can end up going a thousand different ways.
