This is mainly for. Garth from a Cardinal fan who grew up in the same town
A Thanksgiving tradition in my hometown Scarsdale NY was the traditional Thanksgiving day game between White Plains HS and an out-of-area powerhouse like Rome (NY) Free Academy or Miami (FL) High School.
White Plains had a big time FB program. They were coached by Glenn “Great White Father” Loucks - so nicknamed because he owned and ran Mohawk Day Camp - a well-known Westchester County icon. It was rumored that Louks hired his FB players as camp counselors in the summer and held illegitimate predawn workouts each weekday morning.
Local stars in this otherwise rich, conservative county bore such fabled names as Tyrone Holmes and T-bone Lee.
Despite living in a different town in the same county, we used to travel a few miles north each Thanksgiving to catch the White Plains game.
Fond memories. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
