Its 2 lefties and a righty, supposedly Rodriguez is a bullpen guy, 10 saves this year with a ERA over 3. Saunders was a good pitcher I dont know much about hiim anymore tho. Corbin is supposedly a top Angels pitching prospect.

So, how badly did the Dbacks get hosed?

IMO it depends on how far away Corbin is, what Saunders has left in the tank, and who the player to be named is. Im not a big fan of a bullpen guy with an ERA of over 3 in the minors.

Hard to believe this is any better than what the Yankees were offering, which wasn't much... I know Danny wanted to stay on the west coast, so maybe the Dbacks did him a favor here.

But man o man, if the Dbacks had any hopes for putting in some arse's in the seats at Chase, fuggetaboutit....

I agree. Time for a beer and a shot. I feel like an Indians fan from Major League.

Eww Joe Saunders is 6-10 with a ERA of 4.62........

22) Pat Corbin, 7/19/89 - LHSP, Advanced Rookie Ball
4 Wins, 2 Losses. 46.1 IP, 5.05 ERA, 46 K/11 BB
Ranking in a Nutshell: Pat Corbin's stuff and athleticism have received excellent reviews from scouts, Baseball America, and the Halos' own Tom Kotchman, who actually signed Corbin. I have no reason to question their judgment. His smooth mechanics (which you can view here) and tall, slim frame offer a ton of projection, and he's already showing improvement in velocity and control as a pro. On the other side of the ledger are some ‘hitability' issues that dampened his success at Chipola Junior College and in the Pioneer League, where he put up an underwhelming 5.05 ERA and yielded 11.5 hits per nine innings.
Track Record: As stated above, underwhelming. On the other hand, he did fan a batter an inning with the Owlz, kept the walks to a minimum, and showed some groundball tendencies, all good things that did not show up in the results. We won't really see what he's got from a stat standpoint until after a 100 innings in the Midwest League.

Saunders has also won 17 and 16 games the last two years. We'll see.

He did that Brian with a bag of tricks and a supporting offense that was tremendous. He's just not my type of pitcher... The guy literally can't strike anyone out. He relies on a bag of offspeed junk. And if that junk ain't working, well, see this season... This trade sucks, period. Saunder, at his best, is a #3 or #4 on just about most MLB teams.

The Angels are as close to a 2nd team that I have and I hope Haren can propel them into contention.

Deal seems comically bad for the DBacks. they must be really desperate to shed Haren's salary.

If they can get a legit top prospect that will make the deal much easier to swallow. Just seems that normally the player to be named is some middle of the pack or lower tier prospect.

Wasnt Tony Abreu a fairly high level prospect?

Forgive me, when it comes to the D-Backs, I'm forever the optimist. :D

Can't say I know much about him. When the trade was announced, for some reason I was picturing John Lackey in my head.

This team has hardly anything at all. We are years away.

It really depends on what they can get done at the Winter Meetings this year. Hell, I wouldnt be surprised to see them make 1 or 2 more deals before the deadline this year. I am holding out hope for next year and cant wait for spring training at the new digs!!
