Sounds like his choices are down to a slim few. Since we didnt sign Mili, I feel better about still getting hartwell. It looks like its us, the sea chickens, and maybe the bungles. We all are about the same cap wise, so hopefully the rumor of the Cards beeing his first choice holds up. He definatly needs to lower is salary/bonus expectations. I think the cards have done a great job with FA this year. If we have a solid draft, we are in great position to take the NFC west. C'mon Hartwell, get-r-done.

20 Cincinnati Bengals $6.823 M
We've seen other sources site the Bengals as having over $14 M in cap space, but that number is both deceiving and out-dated. The Bengals took a $6.3 M hit when they decided to use their franchise tag on Rudi Johnson. Also, a series of incentives -- including $1 M to Carson Palmer -- that must be paid out affects their number. By the time they make a qualifying offer to their Restricted Free Agents and set aside enough money for the rookie salary pool, they are not likely to have much money to spend in free agency.

12 Seattle Seahawks $13.25 M
This latest number DOES take into account the 7-year deal that Walter Jones just signed, which reportedly inlcuded a $15M+ signing bonus, Matt Hasselbeck's new 6-year, $49.4 M deal ($16 M bonus), the designation of Shaun Alexander with the Franchise tag and the release of Jerry Rice.

Seahawks might still have enough money left over.

In reality, it's not even close.
The $13M includes their rookie pool, the money tied up for restricted FAs and the money that they need to re-sign their low price FAs for (they still have three unsigned starters)

We have $10.5M left for FAs alone and that number is a negative estimate (see Joeshmoe's cap update thread). With Mili signing with Seattle that means $10.5M for Boldin, Hill and Hartwell AND that's before G&G starts the woodchipper...

Today's AZR reiterates that Mili signed with Seattle (whatever that info is worth).

They also reaffirmed the opinion of some of us that the Cards are still pursuing Hartwell, but he'll be the last significant FA we'll be going after.

It just seems with all the hubbub about E James that Hartwell is going to get nervous and Sign with Cards today.
