Has Markieff played his last game as a Sun?

The trade deadline is February 18th and the next Suns game is February 19th at home vs the Rockets. If this game was indeed his last game here, at least you can say that Markieff had a game very typical of his behavior here.

I think he's gone. He's been our best player since Jeff was fired, hopefully that will be enough to generate some serious trade interest. I think we'll actively shop Markieff, Tucker and Teletovic. I wouldn't give PJ and Mirza away but I think we have to take the best offer we get for Keef and move on. I'd be very surprised though if he didn't outperform whatever we receive in return. If you think we're horrible now though, just wait until we play without Markieff and Mirza.

I like trading Kieff and Tucker but I would consider holding onto Teletovic. I think he actually helps space he floor quite a bit for Booker. Plus I don't think we'll really get anything worth while for him anyway.

I didn't say it will matter, just that we'll be worse. Teletovic helps this team a lot but he'd help a contender a lot too. If a contender is willing to give us something that might help us in the future, it's a no-brainer IMO.

I am not even sure Markieff gets traded at all at the deadline. Having players under contract is a lot more valuable than having capspace for the next 2 years.

I just can't imagine a contender giving anything useful for a player who they may not have the cap space to keep in 4 months. But yea sure, if someone really wants him that badly then sure. If it's just to use him as a throw in or something, then may as well keep him.

There's almost always a short term solution, it's been the cost of being a repeat offender that has kept many teams in line and that's about to become a non-issue. The cap is at 70 million this season with luxury tax at 82 but next season the cap is expected to hit 90 million. All bets are off.

Teletovic is a specialist with a skill that can make a huge difference in the playoffs so I think there will be an active market. Whether it will be enough to entice us is the question. We are very young and if we trade Markieff and Tucker, we might not want to get any younger this season. And Teletovic seems to have bonded with some of the younger players and appears to be a calming presence.

Yea this is why I would at least hesitate a bit to trade him as well unless the offer was really good. Coro retweeted a clip of Teletovic pranking Booker and it was good to see that there's still guys having fun and enjoying. It's good for Booker to be around players like that rather than the Morris drama and stuff like that.

I votes yes but am backing off. If the Suns don't get a decent offer for Markieff they don't need to move him now for cap space. They can allocate minutes accordingly to tank. They may also prefer to keep him as a trade chip at the draft. They may also want to have a new coach in place by then (and who knows, that new coach may be able to give him a second life on the Suns).

Everything with Kieff is overblown right now. That scuffle was meaningless, unless it showed that Kieff actually cares now.

Voted no but hope I'm wrong. Hopefully they can unload him somewhere without taking any negative assets in return. I think that is the best the Suns can hope for. His attitude and behavior has sunk any sort of positive value he might have had. It's time the Suns did something that will make them look better as a franchise and unload him, even if it is for pennies on the dollar.

No. McD is all about analytics and "value." If Markieff continues to play well his value will be much higher in the offseason. And it's not like this season is going anywhere anyway. So it's safe to assume that McD will take the risk and attempt to get more in the offseason.

This is McD's biggest flaw IMO. He sees players and interchangeable parts and numbers on a spreadsheet. He doesn't seem to see them as people or value team chemistry.

Generally speaking, it's the right way of going about things. You need to be constantly thinking about the fluctuating value of your players, just as if you were holding a stock portfolio.

But, as you say, it can't be only that. While you're accumulating assets, you also need to think about what their value will be to you while you have them.

Maybe it came out wrong last night but I think we are seeing a Suns team that really wants to win. Earl Watson has the team playing hard and he has convinced Markieff he is a leader on this team. This is so much better than Hornacek had them playing before he was fired. If Markieff wants to play hard for the Suns I do not want to trade him just to trade him. I'm hoping maturity will take hold with time. If the Suns decide to trade him (with no solid offers) the Suns should wait until draft time. So I'm guessing no.

On the internet I think you're supposed to just abbreviate that as MOO. But if you're in the mood to saute some onions I'd recommend mixing in some garlic, a tomatillo or two and a large handful of habaneros (de-seeded). Toss everything along with a roasted carrot into the blender. Add water and salt as needed while blending and then refrigerate for a couple of hours before enjoying your tasty salsa. And remember, Markieff should be handled with kid gloves - a warning that's equally appropriate when handling habaneros.
