I do want to say this.. I like this trade A LOT more if we follow it up with a Chandler trade...

Otherwise if we do this deal outside of Lopez, we wouldn't have a single player above 6"10...

Kerr wouldn't be THAT stupid would he?

I'd take
Horford (or Marvin Williams)
Smith
Teague

For

Amare
Tucker
2nd Rd pick top 40 protected

Or something close to make the salaries work....

The Suns don't even protect their first round picks. :bang:

Smith is a BYC player meaning only half his salary works in a deal, so the deal actually does work financially..

THAT SAID.. No thank you to the trade.. Josh Smith is kind of a loose cannon, Crawford would in theory work in the Suns system, but I think there is a reason D'Antoni got rid of him, and while I think Teague is talented, I am not sure he has the potential needed in a trade for a SuperStar...

walk away Steve.. walk away

Opps, I was wrong on both parts. So it works under the cap AND they can package Crawford because the 60 day restriction only applies to teams over the cap.

Yeah, but I agree this trade is crap. No way!

The Suns need to involve a 3rd team to get a decent return on Amare.

In a van...down by the river.
I was certainly higher on Josh Smith a year ago(which was a contract year IIRC) when he put up 17ppg/8rpg and
nearly 3blocks per.

I agree he would thrive playing uptempo with Nash but that part doesn't excite me.
He's only 24 yrs old andwill prob mature upstairs.
His shooting % has increased each year but is still awful next to Amare's FG%. Also Smith's FT% is attrocious.
Personally i can live with the low FT%.....because his defensive capabilities outweigh that IMO. He doesn't use his body that well when defending in the post, but he's better than Amare at weakside help at the rim. He also is very good at disrupting the passing lanes with his length.

I'd like to have them both here:p and put Smith in at SF in the role of a better Marion.
Unless Horford is involved here I say no thanks...its tempting because I do like the added defense Smith brings but I still think we can do better by adding a Chandler at C, and also adding another bruiser up front.

Hortford
Smith
Teague
#1 unprotected.

Not sure if the money works but that would be a fantastic trade for the Suns.

Its funny, some suns fans dont want to sell Stoudemire 80 cents for the dollar.

But willing to sell him for 3 dollars to a dollar...

Horford and filler and future pick should net Stoudemire, thats his worth at the moment... this isnt LeBron James (30/7/7 and just 24 years old and still to improve) type of player (Stoudemire).

Smith and Marvin Williams is also not bad offer...

Again Stoudemire isnt James... heck he isnt even worth Wade...

Stoudemire's worth is Nowitski, Bosh.....

I'd do Granger, Murphy, Tinsley's expiring and future unprotected pick and Suns add Richardson... but Pacers will reject straight away...

I agree somewhat with the first bits about Smith...

but HOW is he a better Marion, when Marion was a 21/11/3/1.5/1.5 without taking bad shots or needing the ball in his hands for more than 1 minute total the whole game?

In terms of AGE and SHOT BLOCKING (length)... Smith > Marion

Everything else... well, Marion was truelly under rated here.... 21/11/2/1.5/1.5 at the SF position and playing at PF.... is absolutely GUN...

its not like Josh Smith is a POST/Inside player... he scores off jumpshots and finishing at the rim... and Marion > Smith at that aspect.

Marion wasn't a post up threat either and Marions rebounding numbers were inflated due to the other 4 guys on the floor IMO(running the other direction on missed shots).
I don't need my SF shooting 3's.
I do agree that Marion has a slight edge on Smith offensively however.

A big NO to the trade! I don't even get the consideration for Smith's upside. He is 24 - two years younger than Amar'e...

And for the record: I totally dislike Crawford.

Good to see there is at least one person here that realizes Amare's REAL value. This isn't Kobe/LeBron/D. Howard we're talking about. This proposal is pretty close to the fair market value for Amare. Amare is a premiere scorer, a pretty good rebounder and a below average defender with 1 year left on his deal and serious injury problems. He's not LeBron James, you're not going to get half a team for him.

At least we get a bit younger because we can skip getting oldie grant hill and instead have jrich move to the SF and crawford at SG, while crawford plays spot minutes at PG. We still have a decent PF in Josh Smith.

I honestly think we would be in a much better boat then with injury prone I want 20 mil per year amare at PF and gramps hill returning at SF.

Good breakdown of why this works for the Suns. It's much better then the GS deal without Curry.

So can someone explain the headcase comments (Smith)?? because I like the talent but wondering if there's something I didn't read or something I forgot about him...

Josh Smith and Earl Clark forward tandemn would be sweet, IMO.

A lot of it comes from him showing off against Miami in the last playoff series, but he also bumps heads with the coach and makes a ton of bonehead decisions. That, and he takes way too many jumpshots. They account for 47% of all the shots he takes, and he shoots a craptastic 35% eFG. He also regressed slightly this year.

That said, Smith definitely has the potential to be a 20/10 guy and is only 23. He would definitely benefit from playing with a guy like Nash who controls the offense and won't let Smith freelance too much. Smith is also a better defender (although I think his defense is overrated, especially when he has to guard PFs).

JSmith would benefit from playing Nash "stats-wise". 3 more years with Nash, he will become the Marion sequel: with numbers worthy of a max deal but star role player at best.

Smith has enough talent to be as good as Al Jefferson, but you have let him work on lowpost game and ballhandling, which he won't get much chance to under Nash, very much like what happened to Amare.

Okay.. Call me crazy, but I think with the addition of Jamal Crawford, it will be good for thr team. He is a pretty good player, even though he is a ballhog and a liability on defense. I reckon he would do well off the bench. maybe Kerr can talk the hawks into giving us ronald murray also?

nash, richardson, Clark,Smith, Chandler (if he comes to the Suns)

Huh? You don't need your SF shooting 3's? That's one of there jobs is to shoot 3's. Your 2 best 3 pt shooters are your SG and SF.
