I am curious why you feel that way. I thought they were high on him.

Of course if they don't move him into the rotation for every game, I'll have my answer.

I'll also add the fact that he said he didn't wanna go to the Dleage and that he would rather develop in PHX on the bench and yet they still forced him to the D league.

On the other hand his fellow rookie Len never even played in 1 D league game.

So by your reasoning Ennis should only get same minutes as Goodwin got or even less considering the over abundance of PGs.

If Ennis gets more minutes in his rookie season then I think that would be a pretty telling sign.

You're not following a straight line here. Goodwin's performance last season did not warrant playing time. We'll see about this season just like we'll see about Ennis. I'm just disagreeing with your contention that this season will necessarily tell us what the Suns think of Goodwin. It will tell us what they think of him today but that doesn't mean they've given up on his potential.

Probably because he was injured and needed rest for the most part, and proper training by the training staff when he got healthy, and they didn't have a lot of depth at the 5. The same staff thought Goodwin needed some "real" game training so they sent him down, regardless of what an eager teenager thought. I wouldn't read too much into it. If Archie does not crack the rotation and gets regular playing time by mid season then I will lower my expectations of him being our future starting SG.

Nothing indicates this.

Bledsoe has not said anything, has not taken any visits. Suns are saying they want him back, match anything.

It seems like Bledsoe will re-sign with Suns as soon as they have spend their capspace.

You are about right, I'm mostly flying on feelings. Hopefully Bledsoe is waiting for the Suns to potentially sign another free agent or two before he signs.

No offense meant, but you seem out of character and ultra paranoid this past week. We've heard Milwaukee and Miami so far as teams interested in signing Bledsoe to an offer sheet and yet we've heard nothing of him planning or taking visits to either team. He's looking to make as much money as he can. It appears to me neither had interest in offering him the max deal he's looking for. We've heard nothing of his wanting to leave and of course it's not in his best interest to publicly announce his wanting to stay. The Suns want to get the best deal they can so it only makes sense to wait, same for Bledsoe. Soon he will either get a max offer from another team and the Suns will have to decide whether to match, or he won't and they will come to a lower agreement. I'm sure the Suns have an offer on the table and after his agents do their due diligence and if they aren't successful in finding that max deal, he will probably accept after they try and get the Suns to up it. There are only a few Restricted free agents that have come to terms with their teams and even less who have jumped ship in sign and trades at this point in free agency. The Suns are not going to let Bledsoe go (even if that's what he wants) without a significant return and due to his past injury history, he's not likely to find a team that will offer the max he wants. I bet when all is said and done he returns for around $12m a year. A Lowry type contract.

I know the Suns are not going to let Bledsoe walk for nothing. His agents are probably out there looking for a max offer. However this can be a dangerous game as the Suns found out with Joe Johnson.

I have to go now, there is someone suspicious knocking at my door. ;)

With Parsons going to the Mavs there are only 2 other teams left(76ers and Magic) able to offer Bledsoe the max without clearing additional salary. Bledsoe's lack of activity this off-season indicates there is already a deal in place, whether it be with the Suns or as a S&T.

I agree if Bledsoe has a deal with the Suns he is probably in wait mode so as not to hinder the Suns ability to sign another target.

Parsons appears to be a steal for the Mavericks although costly.

I'm not so sure. There are no other big ticket FA's left except for Bledsoe, Stephenson & Monroe and all are RFA's I believe so the bigger concern would be teams matching offer sheets. I think that PHX is waiting to see what kind of offer Bledsoe gets and not outbidding themselves by offering a max contract when he may not even get a max offer from another team. Unless teams start making trades to free up money...PHX is looking like it might get Bledsoe cheaper than expected. However, if Bledsoe isn't happy with what he's offered he can just wait until next year to be a UFA. I wonder what is really going on as there isn't any traffic out on what PHX is doing...aside from speculation that IND might be looking to trade Stephenson in a S&T with PHX for Dragic.

Or it could just mean no team has approached him with the contract he is looking for. He knows the Suns will match and he knows what their offer is. Why bother going on a visit if the team in question isn't looking to pay him what he wants? If their offer is the same as the Suns are looking to pay, then they will just match and he's wasted his time. No team has yet to show any real interest in bring him aboard. Aside from a few rumors that went nowhere, if any team was hoping to get him in S&T than wouldn't he have at least made a visit? I'm sure he's just waiting to see if someone will have interest in giving him an offer that is better than the Suns. I doubt it will happen.

If the Suns have any plans to sign or assist in trading other large FAs, then signing Bledsoe last would not hurt their ability to do so. This was the deal on the Suns ability to sign two max FA contracts when the Suns were chasing Lebron. The Suns would still be able to match any offer to Bledsoe if he were signed last. I'm sure it can be explained better.

I would argue that Lowery and Isaiah Thomas have established the going rate for point guards this summer except the Cleveland Cavaliers gave Irving a max contract. One has to wonder if the reason Bledsoe is not getting mentioned is that teams are worried about his durability.

Of course teams are worried about his durability. That's really the main concern we have.

I think Lowry is a good comparison (salary-wise). Irving is grossly overrated, and Bledsoe is a far superior player to Thomas. Offensively, they might be similar, but Bledsoe is a two-way player, ans is not quite as undersized as Thomas. Having said all that, I think Bledsoe will get more than Lowry.

Lowry's contract should be around what Bledsoe's worth, but the NBA always pays more for youth with upside that Bledsoe has on Lowry. That said, his durability issues combat the youth/upside. it'll be interesting to see how this shakes out.

I agree. Going into the offseason I thought he and Lowry would draw the same type of contract offer. Lowry has some baggage and Bledsoe offsets that with his injury risk. I'm hoping we get out of this with a 5 year/60 million dollar deal but the salary gap between Thomas and Irving makes me wonder. I just don't see that big of a difference in court value between the two, certainly not enough to warrant more than double the salary. Thomas actually has a slight edge in PER for whatever that means. IOW, the logic of these deals escape me so I have no idea what will happen with Eric.

Another difference is Thomas put up his numbers against mainly Western Opponents while Irving played in the East. Cleveland overpaid IMO 1) because they have a poor track record on judging talent and 2) its Cleveland. Also IMO I would much rather have Dragic, Bledsoe, or Thomas than Irving. Lebron will help him look better, but he is one of the most overrated talents in the league.

And despite all that there still isn't a GM out there who would not prefer Irving over Thomas. And that's despite all of Irving's injury problems.

Could be his height, could be his draft slot, who knows.

I wish man. I don't think the Suns have much confidence in Goodwin.

My take is quite the opposite. Otherwise they would have drafted Gary Harris (whom they loved in work outs) at #18.

I think they love Goodwin and are expecting him to be a rotation player this year. And so far so damn good in Vegas.

Are you just watching highlights? He's had great moments but the team struggles while he's on the court. He is -7 in each of the two games despite the fact we've outscored our opponents by 9.

You are watching the wrong things in Summer League. Its glorified pick up with little use for set plays and defense.

He has shot well, played attacking defense, and taken it to the cup with abandon. He also carried us offensively for 3+ quarters out of 8 quarters of play. Hes definitely going to be a rotation guy this year and think he could get 10-12ppg. I love everything I have seen and more from Archie.

His man defense has been good, he still gets lost with switches and trying to figure out who to cover. He's under .500 from the field despite all the layups. And while he takes it to the basket "with abandon" I'd much rather him take it to the hoop with authority. He has the ability to draw fouls but he needs to add some more strength so he can drive through that contact.

As for rotation minutes this season, I have no idea. We're still a few months away and another 5 or 10 pounds of muscle along with some heavy work on protecting his dribble would help immensely. I'm not at all against him getting minutes but I am against him getting minutes if his play doesn't warrant it. So far, through 2 summer league games, I'm not convinced his play warrants it.

I am more excited about TJ than Archie.

TJ has the ability to score creatively in that 5-10 foot range that is now beginning to open up in the NBA. He creates his own shot, creates space, and loves to score with contact. THOSE are characteristics of a superstar's game. I am not saying that he is now, or ever will be, but what I am saying is that there are very talented players, even mega athletes, who play a game that can never be superstar level. They can score off assists, they can run the floor, they can shoot the three, but they cannot do like Kobe, Melo, LeBron, or MJ when you give them the ball, everyone knows they are going to shoot it, and they can score anyway because they have a way of moving, making space, and scoring after contact that is unstoppable. TJ has that type of game, whether he can be effective with it at a high level is certainly a long shot, but its going to be fun to watch.

TJ understands angles and timing. He will score just fine in the NBA. He just needs to add a reliable 18 foot jumper to his arsenal, and he will be unstoppable.

Warren doesn't have Goodwin's up-side but he's closer to ready right now than Archie is. I also agree he needs to stretch his range and I'm confident he will.
