Heat reaching out to Eric Bledsoe. Free agent PG would be an excellent fit in Miami.

JULY 12 UPDATE: With LeBron gone, the Miami Heat want to get Bledsoe, according to draft guru, Joe Kotoch.

At least we got Thomas now, so we can afford to lose Bledsoe
:sarcasm:
But that could be the case if Bledsoe doesn't want to share the limelight with Dragic. Isn't that one of the two reasons that Thomas is now a Sun? The other being that the Suns would like two Point Guards on the floor the majority of the time until either Bledsoe or Dragic leaves.

Is it possible that since we got Thomas a team like Miami will try to offer Bledsoe less than max, thinking we won't match? That would be a huge blessing.

I don't know about the Heat but I think Bledsoe and agent are out there shopping for deals for a sign and trade. The Heat does not have much to offer the Suns so it will likely be another team or somehow a three way. I think Bledsoe's agent knows the Suns will match any offer sheet. Let's hope they can find something attractive for the Suns. Anyway, this is how I view it at the moment. This has been too quiet for too long to make me think the Suns are the preferred option for Bledsoe.

With the Suns saying over and over that they'll match any offer for Bledsoe you can count on any offer sheet he signs being really ugly.

Nothing indicates this.

Bledsoe has not said anything, has not taken any visits. Suns are saying they want him back, match anything.

It seems like Bledsoe will re-sign with Suns as soon as they have spend their capspace.

No offense meant, but you seem out of character and ultra paranoid this past week. We've heard Milwaukee and Miami so far as teams interested in signing Bledsoe to an offer sheet and yet we've heard nothing of him planning or taking visits to either team. He's looking to make as much money as he can. It appears to me neither had interest in offering him the max deal he's looking for. We've heard nothing of his wanting to leave and of course it's not in his best interest to publicly announce his wanting to stay. The Suns want to get the best deal they can so it only makes sense to wait, same for Bledsoe. Soon he will either get a max offer from another team and the Suns will have to decide whether to match, or he won't and they will come to a lower agreement. I'm sure the Suns have an offer on the table and after his agents do their due diligence and if they aren't successful in finding that max deal, he will probably accept after they try and get the Suns to up it. There are only a few Restricted free agents that have come to terms with their teams and even less who have jumped ship in sign and trades at this point in free agency. The Suns are not going to let Bledsoe go (even if that's what he wants) without a significant return and due to his past injury history, he's not likely to find a team that will offer the max he wants. I bet when all is said and done he returns for around $12m a year. A Lowry type contract.

A Dragic-Thomas backcourt would never work cause it's the most undersized backcourt in NBA history as well as the worst defensive backcourt in NBA history.

If reports of the Heat being close to signing Deng and bringing back Wade, Haslem and Anderson are true they are well short of being able to offer a max to Bledsoe.

So hopefully, if Bledsoe moves on, our backcourt alignment would be:

PG: Dragic, Thomas
SG: Goodwin, Green

No defensive stopper but at least the Folly of 2014 ("Five point guards" as Horny joked - ??) would come to an end.

I wish man. I don't think the Suns have much confidence in Goodwin.

I am curious why you feel that way. I thought they were high on him.

Of course if they don't move him into the rotation for every game, I'll have my answer.

Lack of playing time last year, draft and signing a combined 3 guards this summer creating a major log jam etc.

I might be completely wrong but I guess we'll see come season time.

Warren is a three and Thomas and Ennis are PG's.

I don't think Goodwin should start before Green. Green was huge for us last year and I think he'll repeat that this year. Kid is only 19 years old. We can wait a few years or do you want finished players from 1 through 15?

If Archie does well in practice he'll hopefully see some more playing time this year. He puts in the work from what I've read. Green can play some SF so we can free up time behind Dragic, Bledsoe, Green and Thomas. If we resign Bled we'll have a hell of a guard rotation!

Dengs signing pretty much puts an end to Miami offering Bledose a big deal.

Not necessarily. He still doesn't appear ready for prime time. He's 19 and throwing him to the wolves is not likely to help his growth. Not throwing his to the wolves is by no means proof the organization has a problem with him.

Right now, I think Goodwin is more likely to produce oohs and aahs than wins. If we had a chance to move him for a good big I'd do it in a heartbeat. But I have no interest in just adding him to a deal to make it work. If he can show well this week maybe he'll raise his trade value and net us something we really need. If not, we need to keep grooming him for the future.

Exactly. The kid was taken with the 29th pick and is only 19. That he doesn't get much court time is absolutely zero indication that the team doesn't want him or does not believe in him. My God, the "evidence" some use to come to their conclusions is absolutely baffling to me. I think the Suns are high on him and he shows great potential, but he's a year or two away, maybe more. His ability to get to the rim amazes me at times, If he can develop an outside shot the sky is the limit. He's reported by many to be a hard and dedicated worker and seems to live basketball by all I've seen reported on him. There's a good chance he ends up our starting 2 guard or will fetch us something good in return some day. But, expectations on these young kids needs to settle down. They weren't drafted as ready to produce, they were drafted because they showed a lot of potential.

He will be 20 years old by the time season starts.

Goodwin has come through everytime he got minutes. Game against Utah and game against the Kings.

Even Goodwin said that he knows he can do as well as he did against SAC in other games too if they just have him time.

His age is irrelevant anyway. He can be 15 years old for all I care but he's a Sophomore. Sophomore players don't typically warm the bench unless they suck. And no, he doesn't suck.

I don't know what he's going to be this season but based on last season, yes, he sucks. All you have to do is watch the games to see that. If your goal is just to win games, the Goodwin of last season would never see the court. Hopefully, our goal will be to win games and also try to develop the young players. In which case, he'll get some minutes but don't be surprised if it costs us in the W/L column.

So by your reasoning Ennis should only get same minutes as Goodwin got or even less considering the over abundance of PGs.

If Ennis gets more minutes in his rookie season then I think that would be a pretty telling sign.
