Sorry, but Cam just isn't an NBA player. He clearly just doesn't have the physical tools to keep up. It's really no different than having a WNBA sharpshooter try to compete in the NBA. (And FYI, for example, Elena Delle Donne can score at will in the WNBA, is a fantastic player and has NBA guard height...and she would be eaten alive in the NBA.)

Sorry, but Cam was a tailor made bust the moment he was picked.

There may have been better choices, but that is far from saying he isn't an NBA player. Plenty of shooters have long careers in this league.

Not when they are not athletic enough to get their shot off consistently in the NBA, and when they can't do anything else.

Think of Cam as a less effective, small forward version of Jimmer Fredette...

Getting his shot off has not been the issue, he just isn't making them at the rate one would hope. However, he also has not been a problem on defense. He stays in front of his man and he knows where to go. Both the eye test and the stat test show him as an, at worst, neutral defender.

Still wish we'd taken Clarke over him, but I have not even slightly had the feeling that he doesn't belong in the league.

Agree. Cam Johnson would not have been my choice but there is no reason to think he does not belong in the NBA. If he gets his shot going he could really help the team.

I am no shooting expert, but what I look for is consistency. His shot looks exactly the same on every attempt, which should be a good thing. One of the things that annoy me about Bridges is that he developed that weird hitch at some point last year, and every time he shoots now it's like flipping a coin to see which form he will use on that shot.

I worry about Cam Johnson's durability, I worry about his ability to defend quick and/or strong forwards... what I don't worry about is his shooting motion.

Ray Allen brought the ball down every time, just saying. Most great catch and shoot guys do.

I particularly liked the two dribble pull-up he showed last night. If that’s a legitimately consistent part of his game he’s not only a spot up spacer but a legit weapon.

Yes. There is a place in this league for floor spacers and shooting specialists, especially off the bench. Trying to think of a comparison--Eddie Johnson type of player maybe? That might be a little high.

Klay Thompson for instance has averaged almost 20 PPG for his career and that is almost exclusively on mid to long range 2s and 3s. Don't know if Cam will ever be as aggressive with looking for his shot as Klay, but if he is than he could potentially be close to that kind of a weapon as a scorer. Klay was also an upperclassman and didn't have a big rookie season either. More specifically he didn't have a big first half in his rookie season. Klay only averaged 7 PPG in the first half of his rookie season before averaging 17 in the 2nd half.

He certainly does not seem shy about putting up his shot whenever he is close to being open. Cam knows what he can do well and does it unashamedly. He also does not try to be who is not.
