Good thing he had a prenup. Divorce and custody laws are so favorable to women it's ridiculous. Why the heck is a woman entitled to 50% of the money a man has earned? It's sad that prenups are needed for men to prevent from getting raped by current laws.

Pariah is BY FAR my favorite player! why else would I not sequester him to a life of bad luck by giving him the 'reverse mojo' respect in my avatar. I need my cardinals to produce this year and it won't happen without him on the field staring blankly off into space.....;)

If you ask me, in a situation where a man works and the woman stays home with the kids, the woman has the harder job. That's certainly the case in my marriage. Heaven forbid I was ever in that situation, I would have no problem evenly splitting my belongings, considering that my wife does not work and would need at least half to just survive with two kids. In my humble opinion, if you feel otherwise, you shouldn't get married.

I don't think O'Neal's wife could start at center for the Heat.

Both parents have hard jobs, no matter how the home responsibilities are divided up. I personally think that assets acquired by either party before the marriage (or before children, if they were born earlier) should ordinarily be exempt from divorce settlements.

Of course alimony payments are appropriate, but I don't think anyone's debating that.

In my humble opinion, if you feel otherwise, you shouldn't get married.

Lots of people get married for what some consider the wrong reasons. Our society needs laws in place to protect all of them.

Wow. Inappropriate comment, Eric. Seriously. It's the 21st century.

How so? Are you saying she could start at center for the Heat?

Now, my wife can do my job no doubt. But it is a fact that Shaq's wife can't do his job, nor make the type of money he does doing it.

Agreed and well said.

Course, I'm not sure ONeal can really start at center for the Heat. He will, and they don't have anything else, but not sure how much he has left in the tank. Be interesting this season.

I don't know his wife, but she might be able to start at center on the Suns.

Probably. She's got a bit of height.

She reminds me of a black Reese Witherspoon there. Reese could jump center for you guys too, I'm guessing.

I disagree completely. I would LOVE and cherish being at home with my children and taking care of them everyday. I don't think that it is a harder job at all. I love being at home with my children, and actually crave it.

Sportswire reports Suns' owner Robert Sarver has just traded Reese Witherspoon and Atlanta's 2008 round 1 pick to Seattle for cash.

No! I think alimony is ridiculous. Child support, yes. But once the initial settlement is done with the spouse, there is not reason to give someone monthly payments for being your ex-wife.

I agree with this. You shouldn't be forced to give alimony. If you loved the person, you should want to help them out anyway, but you shouldn't be forced via a court order to pay an ex-wife anything.
